Pink Floyd

That is one of the best of all time... timeless music.

But there are a few and hard to say who is the BEST... too subjective!

No matter which is the best, they MUST have great art work depicted on their album covers.

LOL well if you are going to use that as a qualifier... then Nazareth "Hair of the Dog" changed album cover history.

All of Iron Maiden's album covers were cool, original works of art. I like how Eddie remained a consistent theme throughout the years and evolved over time.

Quote
The band won the 1988 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental, beating the favourite Metallica and their ...And Justice for All album.

Quote
"Well, we do sometimes play our mandolins very loudly."

And who were these guys?

Jethro Tull is the name of the above band. Check for Ian Anderson, always standing on his leg while playing the flute.

what about deep purple .... sweet child in time on of the best songs ever

...i like the black keys aswell

check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEKg9qyEQmw and yes they did it before Deep Purple

and by the way, the BEST ROCK BAND EVER........................................................................... .......

Nirvana best rock band of all time  Grin

Undecided Well, I would agree they were one of the most popular rock bands of all time. Not the best though. Cobain couldn't play guitar worth a shit. Nothing put a bunch of power cords and distortion. I do really like their Smells Like Teen Spirit album though.

this thread makes me laugh.

very few of any of your choices even resemble what the definition of rock and roll is.

the best rock and roll band is definitely going to change for every generation And era.

Elvis, he helped start that shit
Beatles, brought it mainstream
Grateful dead created the counter culture and put LSD on the map
Zeplin paved the way for mainstream hard rock
Pink Floyd is timeless and easily the best concert I've ever been to.
And Phish, started the modern jamband scene.

Heavymettle and grundge , funk and disco are to far removed from rock n roll to add to this list.

And everyone that says Metallica or nirvana, don't make me laugh. You obviously don't spend much time listening to the wide spectrum of music and are still stuck in high school mentality.
