Six years of downgrading the US military, while pretending to support our troops. Six years spent alienating US allies and appeasing enemies.  Claiming he had 'decimated'' al Qaeda, and had them 'on the run.'  Calling Fort Hood workplace violence.  And now...we´re supposed to believe that Barack Hussein Obama, who intentionally made all these calls, is suddenly serious about being commander in chief and destroying the muslim terrorists, and their supporters?   Dream on.....

Obama to prepare US for military campaign in Syria against Islamic State

WASHINGTON -- US President Barack Obama will tell the American people on Wednesday night that he plans to order strikes against Islamic State forces in both Syria and Iraq until the group is ultimately destroyed.

The president's plan includes additional support for opposition militias in Syria vetted by the United States, which will serve as a ground force complementing America's air campaign.

Former Kurdish fighters or Peshmerga forces currently serve that role in America's air war against Islamic State in Iraq, holding cleared ground after US strikes occur. Obama has ruled out introducing US combat troops on the ground.

President Obama has killed more terrorist leaders than any President before him.  He's ALWAYS taken terrorism seriously.

Obama may consider this announcement a good political move but he's also telegraphing our military strategy to ISIS at the same time, he might as well send a personal memo to these Islamic fanatics in Syria telling them to hunker down. And since most Americans favor attacking ISIS, not much political downside here at home.

But it does bring up an interesting question. How much information does our CIC really need to give to the American public at large without jeopardizing the success of our own military

I love how they drop his middle name in there like it's relevant to anything. Military strikes wont get rid of ISIS. Sure you'll kill a lot of them along with a load of civilians, but you wont eradicate them.

Obama is a cautious, essentially pacifist man
Find it hard to believe he is going to wage a war and do all that it takes

Perhaps that is his intent to jeopardize the success of our military?  Why does he need to telegraph everything we are doing? I don't want to know what the plans are....just want to hear him say he intends to do whatever it takes to destroy ISIS.  I'd rather see him call out 'moderate' muslims and demand they speak up against those that have supposedly hijacked their religions.  On the eve of the anniversary of 9/11...I don't want to hear that we are not in a war against islam.  That is a lie.

Yet the military industrial complex is licking their chops right now as it's now time to spend more money to defeat a propped up new version of the al qaeda throwbacks. Covertly train and arm Islamic militants w/ weapons their nearest 'enemies' don't even have, then they go on a rampage and pick off a few Americans in the process, then drop expensive bombs and ship even more arms to the region. This won't end well and will likely spawn more terrorists than you kill off. Are we supposed to sit here and say hip-hip-hooray assuming that this will be the final bombing and arms shipments that will forever stem violence in the middle east? Won't happen and unintended or planned covert consequences will manifest themselves rather quickly.

Other than Osama, he has killed a few of the top level leaders of Al Qaeda. But they were replaced immediately and their assassinations didn't had any effect at all on the functioning of Al Qaeda. They only way to destroy organizations like Al Qaeda / ISIS is an all out attack destroying their military infrastructure, thereby allowing their rivals to defeat them. So far Obama has refrained from such a step.
