I am trying to exchange some BTC to Liberty Reserve.
Seemed to be possible with MtGox, so I transferred my BTC to them, waited over an hour, sold BTC for USD, tried to withdraw the USD, turned out their LR is dome via AurumXchange, went there, filled the form, and got a message "sorry we don't take MTGOX at the moment, try later".
WTF, changed my USD back to BTC, transferred to the next biggest exchange: BTC-E. Again waited, traded, when tried to withdraw I got the message: "You have entered an incorrect purse". WTF? I mailed support, turned out they only accept 8-characted account numbers (U+7digits), while my LR account (opened 5 years ago) has U+6 digits, well, out of luck.
How can I stop wasting my time, and do it somewhere where it "just works"?
Site that doesn't have the feature down too often, withdraws Liberty Reserve fast and reliably?

I've used IMCEX before & am very happy with them. Low volumes, though.

In the end I've done it via https://vircurex.com/ which went flawlessly and instantly. But that was 2012-04-24, and now it seems they don't have LR direct withdrawal any more, but through Aurumxchange which incurs a 1% fee. But it doesn't say if its the same 1% that Liberty Reserve charges for receiving transfers, of is that an extra 1% besides that 1%, which will make it 2%?

That 1% is our fee, independent of Liberty Reserve's fee. Please note though that Liberty Reserves charges 1% up to a maximum of $2.99. If you exchange $1,000 for example, our rate + Liberty Reserve rate would be much less than 2% (more like 1.3% total). It all depends whether your exchange is for more than $300 or not.
Like if I'd ever put more then 300 USD in a Liberty Reserve account... I don't intend ever to put anywhere close to that, so for me its 2%. Too much. I'll try BTCex next time, they seem to not charge on top of LR: https://btcex.com/site/page/rulesWithdraw of USD will be handled by Liberty Reserve. You pay only LR fees. And they are the third largest USD exchange by volume (after MtGox and BTC-E).

I wonder if you have any customers, and if so, they are obviously clueless.

speaking about btcex, well, the price may be a bit better I think, considering there are no fees, but did you recently look at the daily trading volume?
Also, there is another website with no fees, bitcoin-central.net, but there the trading volume is 0 (for LR->BTC) for quite some time now.

I don't think you get it. If in a day or two coins are going for 5.09 at btcex.com, they will most likey be going ~9% higher at Gox, so you will be not maximizing your trade in either case. Smaller exchangers lag in price because of lack of liquidity. That is just the way it is. Here you are complaining about a 2% fee, but would not care about forgoing 5-9%+ in profits.
It just appears you where wrong: Just in the few hours since your message, 165 BTC got traded at btcex for over 5.085: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/btcexUSD_trades.htmlMay 4, 2012, 06:24:19 5.08580 88.14 May 4, 2012, 03:30:22 5.08530 77.53 To compensate for the 1% LR withdrawal fee, the prices at MtGox would have to be: 5.08555 * 1.01 = 5.13641 I don't see them go that high on MtGox: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD_trades.htmlThe highest trades where at 5.11350, and most of them below 5.10 Even if I sold at the highest trades at MtGox, counting all fees to trade and withdraw to LR, I'd still be 0.5% worse then at the highest trades at BTCex.

It's automatic, but not instant. No bitcoin spends are "instant". Whoever wrote this nonsense into the bitcoin wiki should be scolded. Are fast. Funds received are available for spending within minutes. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_PageIt takes from 30 minutes to several hours for bitcoin spends to be confirmed.

Maybe you should be scolded too for being equally vague in your definition of "confirmed".

I've used wm-center.com twice - the first time for a small amount to see if they were legit and more recently for a larger amount (a few hundred LR USD). They're pretty quick - not instant (in any sense) but reliable and their rates are better than most. The first transaction was complete & appeared in a few mins (subject to confirmations ofc ) - the second took a couple of hours. I was able to reach them on skype when I had a query. I'd use them again - I feel fairly confident they're interested in keeping clients happy.
