What do you think about this?

FUD.

Unless it is going to completely destroy the entire internet across the entire world in such a way that the world can't recover, it isn't a threat to bitcoin.

If it does damage the entire world wide internet in that way, then we've got MUCH bigger problems to worry about than bitcoin.

It is very small, but possible can make some nice auroras (not the coin......)

Edit: Just saw it's a x1.6  - not so small but still no real serious damage expected.

I hope it does not burn my paper wallets in the safe in my house.

When the system come up again, I will put it back online. Some of it any ways. ^joke^

LOL. If your paper wallets are burnt, the entire earth may be burnt down. No electricity and internet exist. You still care about your paper wallet.

Unless this recent solar flare is capable of knocking the internet out beyond repair and causing a lot of major problems then I do not personally see how it can affect bitcoin in a big way. Even if this solar flare was to cause major problems that we may not be able to come back from I would think bitcoins would be the least of our worries. The most that may happen is a small internet outage meaning we would be unable to do anything involving bitcoins while the internet was down.

I think the threat is possible but not very likely.  Even if it did happen the outcome of such an event could be much worse then just losing Bitcoin.  This is just one of those things that I feel is out of my hands, so I feel all I can do is make myself aware and prepare.

The sun burped. If it knocks out my satellite TV, I won't miss it all that much. I have a feeling this whole thing is going to blow over.

It will knock out the SWIFT network (and ATMs and other banking networks) before it knocks out the Bitcoin network

In fact a major flare event could prove Bitcoins resilience and help it grow.

The only Way bitcoin will survive is, we need to print out the blockchain.
Best to print out on rock plates not only paper.

In serious. There are often such sun eruptions. Also I heard that there is always a part of the earth away from the sun Smiley

Prob unrelated but my entire telecom network is down all day today (and still down). Though they are pretty incompetent so it could just be their normal clownery that caused the blackout and not that jerk, the Sun. This would be from Monday's CME since effects from yesterday's should hit tomorrow.

Universe is constantly playing havok on our shitty hardware, like when we had to come up with ECC memory to deal with cosmic rays flipping DRAM to the opposite state.

I agree. This kind of activity is not something that would affect bitcoin only. Since bitcoin is decentralized the only thing that could cause damage to bitcoin would be the inability to communicate throughout the world.

It's pure FUD. Even if you imagine that it's real, bitcoin would be the last thing to worry about.

It may be FUD this time around, who's to say it will be as well next time? Our electronics are not shielded if a Super X-class hit(>=x40) and be directly aimed at us like this one, I read that transformers, not connected, just stored somewhere would literally melt/be destroyed. Let alone those connected to power grids. Mega EMP right there.
