This is a "Version 1" release. We will be updating the UI and will be adding more coins / algos in the next days. Payments are made "live" ... I.E. looks awesome!
actually guys id recommend to close source for your new features, ive seen opal get cloned 3 times now, and other people are just waiting for you to create features and copy it...maybe even slap an ipo on it. i wont say the name but today on twitter i see a new one who has cloned your exchange in wallet, exactly the same name in qt exactly the same look and features..
i think it would be very fair to your investors and for yourselves to make sure that other people can't just copy anonymous file transfers, or your marketplace, or your wallet design etc etc.

I agree with the above comment, close certain branches of src...as many investors are thinking it, you can just see some people who are always asking what you are doing and then you see them on irc in other channels mentioning what you plan to do and some even dare to announce these same features...when in reality they look at your progress and wait for the code.. all in all roadmap great. would like to hear opalteam opinion on closed src, cloak ruby and drk have done it too.

This is definitely a concern for us, and it's a very tricky subject. Some features will be closed source, but things like stealth that affect funds will always be open source.

I will not install any crypto wallet that is not open source. I highly suggest you release two wallets then, a bare-bones "open source" wallet, and then a enhanced wallet, as a separate git branch that includes the extra features. Some people just want to buy & sell coins with a wallet and aren't interested in using any of the features. (That's me) I heard that you might be changing the protocol + chain to accommodate some of these new features. If not, then perhaps I can just install an Onyx2 wallet and stay open source that way instead?

Yes, don't worry about that - we will always have an "open source" version of the wallet available, as mentioned in bassguitarman's post. Even the closed source branches we create will still be open source, but access will be given only on request.
