I don't think they 'control' the world per se though they might want to, but there are certain groups of powerful and wealthy individuals who want to and will buy as much power and influence as they can to shape certain world invents. War is a business and the oil and arms industry and banks profit immensely from this and what better way than to get governments to give them their citizens taxes by buying arms to invade countries then charging them more to rebuild it and the banks lend them more money when they need it and it's the government that bails them out when they screw up. Wow, I have the first edition of that Illuminati game from Steve Jackson.  Ultimately it led to their company being raided by the Feds, because the Feds were sure that IT WAS NOT A GAME.  The raid almost killed their company.  It was a famous case at the time, involving Phrack Magazine and the E911 document.
