Why include your BTC or whatever altcoin address anywhere for tips and/or donations?

I've never seen someone get tips or donations this way. On reddit, no one donates to the mods except for the /r/Bitcoin mods.

We are all greedy people who never share and horde our coins to make a profit off of each other.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I've never received a donation BUT somebody did spend 5 cents to tell me I have a 3 inch penis one time.

I give a small tip every month to a website I use, and I have also recieved tips two or three times for articles which I've published with a tip address. You're right that very few people tip but I don't think you can say that nobody does.

How many times have you spent a lot of time helping someone out? I have read a few posts where people sent someone a tip for helping them out.
