His name's not Darlene.
Cheesy

Seriously, though, you're saying he's 'disappeared'?  Seems odd for a person you know "deeply, and well".  At least he bothered to log in 2 days ago Smiley

He hasn't disappeared. He works. He does stuff. He's credited by name in manpages you probably haven't read.

Ha, I should hope so - software should be self-documenting Wink

But that aside, I was referring to:
I spent 30 minutes on the phone international until I could get someone to bridge me into local directory assistance for the last area code of his I knew

That makes it sound like you at least can't get hold of Not-Darlene {Surname} over the phone.

I'm sure you'll get in touch and maybe he'll pop back in here to give some more details.  I wouldn't fault him for not doing so, though.. it's not like there have been particularly serious offers Smiley

First off, i drive and own a semi truck.... This is not exactly how you do buisness, but i guess u would need to find a customer... But still.... Its gonna cost $10,000 at least to pickup and ship to another location... Free... Haha...

Yea will someone send me 35btc...?? Its free right???

And.... Ok lets say you do find someone to move this stuff, then u need to contract the shippment out, get it confirmed and send order confirmation... To broker the load is gonna cost as well....

I have delivered servers, to facebook and amazon... And information seems scarce in this post.... Title says free, then all the terms... Its a good joke... But go ahead and prove me wrong...... If you can....

So, my not-Darlene friend has some more non-info for y'all.

First, there hasn't been any serious inquiry to this offer since it was posted, either PM or email. No, the square footage of your mo m's basement doesn't help.

Second, consider carefully the implications of this:

Quote
I am not interested in providing someone with just 1, 10, or even 100 servers.  You need to be able to take at least 2MW (1500+ servers).
s

That's TWO MEGAWATTS. It's a big heap of gear, and draws a big mess of power.

I did talk to my friend, non-Darlene, tonight. He's not actually *that* concerned about this. He's got other shit going on. But he and his partners would rather unload this stack of capital now, in collaboration with a buyer willing to agree to a reasonable NDA and consulting support agreement, than to see it all end up as heavy-metals pollution in someone else's river.

If you've got serious interest in it, either PM or email me or Google me and then do the same. Let's you and I start to work out the parameters of discussing a serious deal.

Peace,
Mike

One more thing:

Quote
The particular space where these machines live is relatively expensive so we need to either shut it down or replace with newer hardware.

So there is an opportunity here for someone to optimize for infrastructure costs.

Wait...how did you suddenly become the person running this thing...two replies ago you couldn't even find the dude.
What the hell is going on here?
I, and several others, have posted multiple replies saying we are ready willing and able to take the equipment, all we need is some basic information like, you know, WHERE THE FUCK the stuff is.  The fact that THOSE replies have been totally ignored or replied to with more BS like 'I only want to talk to people who can take more equipment than is reasonable for anyone to take' and now you come along to vouch for the guy and then mysteriously take over is well....bullshit.
Just let the fucking thread die...this guy doesn't have six million dollars of equipment to give away.  It was a fucking scam that didn't work.

This threads getting more weird every day.

Who's got the equipment, who knows who, is there any equipment, why are offers of collection being ignored, why would anyone throw valuable mining equipment into a river Shocked.

I think it was Mr. Jones with a hammer in the library Cheesy.

They're obviously in no rush to get rid because offers of collection were made ages ago.
