NeoScrypt going to make your GPUs useful again. Phoenixcoin already switched its algo to NeoScrypt.

Feathercoin going to transition soon. Many will follow. Stay tuned.

My old GPU gets pretty decent hashrate on groestl so I've moved on to that for now. It's a few years old and paid for itself through BTC and LTC mining before  ASICs came along (free electricity included in rent  Grin). There's no point buying new GPU now unless you use them for gaming as well or some programming work during downtime.

I am also using last of my 280x crossfired for gaming but current gen games are poorly optimised for multi-gpu configs but still GPUs are being used instead of lying idle.

If you live in a cold country like me, I use electricity to warm the house. The heat from a couple of GPU rigs is enough to keep my house warm. The open source Kernals can be optimized. Not much innovation has be done the last 6 months on the AMD side. Perhaps because everyone who publish their hard work only get rewarded with a couple of beers. As with any project, when the founding is gone, the project get's abandoned.

It is not profitable for me to mine. But the heating helps a bit.

Same.

I earned approximately $4 yesterday mining with 2x290x and 4x280x with neoscrypt on westhash. Not nearly enough to pay the power costs. I have a 40mh/s scrypt asic as well that pulls about 1000w that is just barely profitable, but it keeps my upstairs warm.

I had three 6950's blowing on my shins all last winter.  Mmmm.... 6950's!
