Let's say I want to get in on the current 6% APR rates on Bitcoinica for depositing bitcoins.

Do I have to provide proof of identity? Even if I never use US$, or open a long/short position?
If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. At this moment, you don't have to. However, you must be ready to submit the documents should we require.

As this is a requirement (that is not yet in effect) from New Zealand government, we will notify everyone in advance when the time comes.
