I dont no if anyone could help me Im running win 8.1 and everytime I try to open the wallet it runs for a few mins than crashes and I get a problem caused the program to stop working correctly popup I tried everything totally removing the wallet re installing still does tried older version still happens I never had a problem with any other wallet I installed and cant figure this out if anyone has a suggestion I would really appreciate it thanks

There's a problem with the wallet when it runs on Windows 8.1 and a new build is coming soon which will fix the issue.

In testing it's working fine so far.

Now that multi-algo has been successfully implemented DGC seems to be attracting some favourable attention.

At least I have noticed a slow but steady increase in the price on Cryptsy, which I am sure we all welcome.  Cheesy

Is there anything currently in the pipeline for further DGC development??

There's a lot more coming but it's not direct DGC development.

Now data can be stored in transaction outputs we can build additional protocols on top of the blockchain.

We now got a working 64bit version of our wallet which is 100% compatible with Windows 8.1!

If you're on Windows 8.1 32bit, you need to have a bit more patience, currently building a 32bit version of our wallet for it. Smiley

Download it here:

32bit wallet is now built and currently being tested.

Also plans for a new blockchain explorer, new online wallet, and more services centered on Digitalcoin.

Hello comunity,

This week's 0% fee day has been set on miningfield pools, there's a countdown to the day on both sites:

http://us.miningfield.com

http://eu.miningfield.com

This is valid to all pools (sha-256,scrypt,x11)

Once the set time is reached, a countdown to the end of the 24h will be set.

PS.:Remember, regular miners will get coins offered on the 25th of December

What OS are you on? Anything that seems to trigger this? The error indicates a problem with the dat file path location. Did you notice a problem at all with accessing that directory or file at the time? Also how many times has it happened and how long was the wallet running for? I have had both 32 bit and 64 bit wallets running under Windows 8.1 for days on end 24/7 with no issues so far. Haven't had any more reports from anyone else yet either.

Cheers.

Cart, it looks like this same issue has happened with the bitcoin source.

Please see this link for how it was solved there: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/1969 .

Looks like you need to do a re-download of the blockchain.

It seems that your blockindex got corrupted somehow. You should make a backup of your wallet.dat and then clean your data-directory and only leave in the wallet.dat. This leads to a re-download of the block-chain, which can take a while though.

Nice find Kenel, this one includes the exact same error message so a -salvagewallet may be needed too.

Cheesy

Thanks guys...will review what you posted later. Just for info it is Windows 8.1 64-bit. I deleted everything in %appdata%/digitalcoin except the wallet.dat file. Happens every time I try to launch the program. I deleted the contest of the data directory trying to get the prior version working.

Maybe I'll just delete the entire directory and see what happens...after backing up my wallet.dat of course. After the blockchain DL's (if it does) I'll try replacing the empty wallet.dat with mine to see if that works.

Since we forked to DGC v3 some of us have been working out ways to utilise additional protocols which sit on top of the blockchain and utilise the decentralised database for lots of other interesting projects.

Simple proof of concepts and testing will be ongoing in the coming days / weeks depending on available time over the holiday season.

Here's a snippet of information about what I'm doing here :

I'm calling it BRSS or Blockchain-RSS

It's a way to store RSS news feeds and/or simple links with metadata into the DGC blockchain for widespread syndication and publishing via our blockchain.

More details will be released as this first little test project progresses.

We have lots of other ideas as well, this is just the first of many.

Utilization of the data storage capabilities within the blockchain is still in its infancy, and is really the next evolution of blockchain technology. BRSS will be an incredible advancement because it will create a truly permanent RSS feed. This is an exciting venture and I for one am really looking forward to this and some other protocols that can be implemented over the blockchain.
