I post this question because there is always a new altcoin, but what is it that everyone wants.

You can run down a hype list on a certain coin, or make this thread ... this coin has this and that coin has that fest, but I actually want to know what has not been done yet and what can be done or implemented that would be considered a successful futuristic coin, if it is not already here, being traded, buried etc.

Maybe some devs will read some responses and make us the perfect alt coin.

That is all , I know we all want to the moon, quick profits and proof of dev etc, but what do you think the game changer will be?

Basically what everybody wants is: a coin you can get very cheap (doesn't matter if you can mine a lot quickly, buy very cheap from the market, or just get it in a giveaway), its value explodes very quick and from that point it grows continuously.

Easier said: easy money for everybody.
Obviously that's not actually possible.

Good things for a coin:
- smart, active and hard-working devs  (though smart and hard-working usually are mutually exclusive), if they are already known here, even better.
- good community
- ASIC resistance is a trend these days, CPU-only even better.
- completely anonymous transactions are a good addition these days
- easy to use wallet for all OS from second 1, working stratum pools from second 1, exchange very early.
- the possibility to merge mine it with other popular coins is a nice addition
- a way to spend the coins on goods as early as possible (even if only  in a game)

That's the thing. Most people that look for new altcoins aren't really looking for anything in an altcoin, they're looking for fiat. That's why there are trends here like PoS, anonymity, pointless and potentially dangerous mining algorithms, etc. (Note: I'm not talking about original projects like PPC for PoS, those are respectable as open source projects.)

Hope to buy low and sell high and make 5-10x returns.

People forget what a coin needs to be all about. A medium of exchange or some kind of intrinsic value. Most of the coins fail at that very first step. Talk about 3-4 devs, PoD, anonymity, fair distribution are pretty useless parameters.

I used to back a couple of them which I thought could become useful in day to day transactions. With the 2nd gen Cryptos I can clearly see at least 2 which would definitely go somewhere.

That is what I am getting at, we need a game changer, not flavor of the month. Thanks for your view

People want a fast way to earn money and the altcoins are the answer, but it's not so easy...

Which ones?

Mainly Worldcoin. Has fast transaction speeds and good community, but then others also turned up, and the 2nd gen pretty much took over. Bitshares provide 10 second confirms without variance and forking problems.

For me one of the altcoin section could overrun Bitcoin in a few years. Therefore I'm looking for that longterm investment which could beat Bitcoin.

At the moment I'm just holding NEM for longterm.

Maybe in a few weeks I will add some more like NXT, Nxtty, NODE or something else from this direction.
