How fast would the difficulty drop if almost everyone stopped mining them?
Difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks, so if a ridiculously high percentage of mines shut down at once (ridiculously improbable), the remaining couple of miners would have to mine at the current difficulty until 2016 blocks are mined. I wonder if it was a good idea for the Op to publicize he has 500 btcs and post the (perhaps, it's his) address.
