Yeah, I agree. Something this complex simply defeats the purpose of an ATM machine

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I am here to tell you, Robocoin ATM rocks. I took a few mining bitcoins to my local Robocoin. Holy crap, when I saw those hundreds pop out I was impressed. I recommend you try one today.
Yeah, my friend has been talking about this whole weekend

I am here to tell you, robocoin is too expensive, too much verification and there is no robocoin at my location.
I think you are missing the point. Of course it is too expensive. Of course it is way too crazy with four scans of palm print. BUT! It works. It is WAY ahead of its time. Totally impractical. But, somebody is actually making real stuff that works - compared to all this talk and vaporware. It is working hardware. The future is bright for Robocoin if they keep it up. Who cares about insanely low fees, these are early days and the novelty alone is worth the opportunity to use a Robocoin just for the hell of it. iam not against atms but why shouldnt i use the atms of the other 6 atm companies instead? http://bitcoinatmmap.com/

Other then that, there is no real reason as to why you should use an ATM made by a specific manufacturer then another as the competitiveness of a specific ATM is based on the owner/operator of the ATM

THIS They need the verification steps in order to comply with AML/KYC regulations. If the operator does not require these verifications then they will be shut down and face both financial and legal negative consequences.

I personally won't use it since it provides less anonymity and just seems more difficult to use than Bitcoin.

Every step to bring BTC to mainstream is useful especially the use of easy access ATMs.

With their fees so high, I would only use one of these things only if I was in an extreme emergency and I happened to be near one. I would use it, but not with those high prices. Mucn easier to use coinbase or another type and wait the 3 days.

The fees (spread) is set by the individual owner/operators of the ATM. When you sell via a BTC ATM it will generally not be reported to the IRS as you do not give them that kind of identifying information. The same is true if you were to buy bitcon at an ATM
