Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Of course they will add litecoin they're probably building a secret stash since the price is so low , why else would they hire the creator of Litecoin.

Why would they do that? There's so much yet to do with bitcoin, and litecoin doesn't bring anything interesting to the table. It was a fun proof-of-concept in 2012, but it's time has passed. Charles probably has better things to do at Coinbase.

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

If they were going to do it, they could have already done it by now.

I think they might be waiting for more exchanges to pick up litecoin for more liquidity.

Litecoin will be dead in a year, why would they add something without any future?

The reason why coinbase hasn't implemented litecoin yet is the price point is to low to offset the costs associated with implementing it. I've talked to Charlie (Coblee) months back regarding this very issue. It's not that they won't its just not warranted yet. We already have a partial solution like Coinbase which is Gocoin. This allows for merchants to accept payments for items with BTC, LTC, Dogecoin. It will only be a matter of time until the price starts to increase again. When the ENTIRE crypto market finally finishes correcting, I believe the price and value of BTC and LTC will continue growing well into the future.

It doesn't really matter if coinbase adds it or not but LTC has a slightly less chance to be listed than DRK. A lots of people have thought DRK will never be listed at Bitfinex before LTC. Then a lots have claimed coinbase will not going to accept it before LTC with the founder of LTC for years working on their team. Then finally i heard Bitfinex is not going to face the regulatory backlash that may occur, because they are trying to be compliant, not trying to promote the black market.

Possibly. We currently aren't working on any other coins right now. We're spending time fixing issues, improving performance, and optimizing database storage. But it is open source (https://github.com/coinbase/toshi), so I'm sure some Dogecoin developer will send us a pull request any day now.
