Some people (including me) hate iOS 8. For me, it's the lag. My iPad 2 can't handle all of this new software and extra processes running in the background. Luckily, there is a way to downgrade from iOS 8 back to iOS 7.

Unfortunately you will lose all of your apps/media unless you made a backup of your iDevice while it was still on iOS 7.

Head over to http://www.icj.me/ios/all and find your device and download the ios 7.1.2 .ipsw file listed next to it.
Remember. This will only work if the iOS version is highlighted in green (currently iOS 7.1.2 is!) because Apple is still signing it. AKA letting users "update" to that firmware version.

Then go onto iTunes on your computer and find your iPad listed there.
Hold down shift (command for macs) and click on the restore button (unfortunately clicking update to switch to a lower iOS version doesn't work)
A window will pop up and from there you can select the .ipsw that you downloaded earlier.
It should restore your iPad to the earlier iOS 7 and now you have successfully downgraded!

Good luck to you if you try this tutorial.

I will not be held responsible if anything goes wrong. Wink (make sure to back your iDevice up first just in case something doesn't work. But when you restore you'll need to select an older back up that was made when your iDevice was on iOS 7.)

One risk to note...they usually stop signing old releases within a day or two of a new release.  Who knows how long they will continue signing 7.1.2, but you risk a very short time frame to rollback.  Also, as mentioned....ipad 2 and other older devices do not work good with this upgrade.  I would definitely not do it if you have an older device.

(I realize there are some ways to possibly downgrade if you have jailbroken your device and saved the blobs..but this can be difficult.  I am talking above in regards to the average "joe" who hasn't jailbroke their devices)

As it linked in the op, you can check here: http://www.icj.me/ios/all to see if apple is still signing the firmware.
If the version is highlighted I green you can downgrade to that version.

Instead of using iCrap, get an Android.

Due to an article that BitcoinTalk didn't like that I wrote on CCN, my account is banned. Theymos refuses to reply to my request for hearing his side of the story instead of banning my account. Please sign my petition to get Theymos to unban my account. Thank you.
