Just curious, who started CPU Mining first?  SC, FBC, TBC or Litecoin?  I know Liquidcoin started far later.

The first CPU-specific blockchain was Tenebrix.

@ALL

As bad as I hate to agree with Psytard, Bitcoin was the first CPU mined cryptocurrency. For over a year Bitcoin was CPU based. ArtForz came on the scene in July 2010 with the first GPU miner.

Tenebrix was the first coin post Bitcoin that was announced as a CPU only chain.

It was one of the first coins I forked just for the hell of it.

~BCX~

Is this you admitting you are "lolcust" creator of tenebrix ( last came on here 14 Feb ) AKA "ArtForz" ( what a coincidence, last came on here 15 Feb ) Huh

Retard,

Please explain how you can derive that from what I posted.

I do not know if Lolcust is ArtForz or not, but I do know I am neither !

Forked can be a bitcoin copy like tenebrix or blockchain fork like you threatened to do with NMC and got paid 30k NMC to avoid this via blackmail.

Bulanula,

I only just noticed because I had you on ignore; you have a scammer tag. Is that because you are a scamming scammer who scams?

Actually don't bother answering because I'm going to put you back on ignore. It's way more fun to watch BCX and the MicroCash scammers fight it out than it is to listen to you. Of course if you want to tell the forum why you actually fell out of CoinHunters scam circle that would go some way to repairing your karma.

I fell out of the scam that is SoiledCon when I saw that CH was going to bring the reward down to 1 from 32 or something like that.

I was worried he will block my wallet like he did with ArtForz and many others and I sold all my SC at 0.0126 and never looked back.

I was in the "circle" for only a few weeks at most and I got nothing valuable from doing so.

When I saw the power CH had ( more than GayPal ) of blocking wallets and his CPF and the TX blocking and the block reward change I said "screw it" and left that scam immediately.

Posts like this do a lot more to convince the new and/or ignorant users to stay away than the constant SC bashing.  If only quality posts like this did not get lost in all the garbage.  Sad

Sorry, when I said CPU-specific I really meant GPU and FPGA resistant. That's Tenebrix. Short history:

Bitcoin comes out, originally CPU mined.
GPU mining is invented.
Tenebrix invented to keep CPU mining worthwhile, using Scrypt.
People who are pissed off about the Tenebrix pre-launch mining launch Fairbrix.
At some point SolidCoin is launched with GPU mining, but after a series of successful attacks becomes centralized (as a defense) in SC2 and adopts "wacky wild who cares since mining doesn't matter" mining.
A few random popular features in alternative coins (like Scrypt) are lumped together to make Litecoin. It doesn't actually have anything new, but its open launch and better support make it the dominant "CPU coin".

My bias towards Litecoin is obvious here, but I don't actually own any FWIW. I've just been paying attention the whole time.

Is Litecoin the largest CPU-mined currency at present?

Was there ever any quasi- or proto-bitcoin P2P currency, or was bitcoin truly the first?

There were many attempts at a on-line currency, they all had some form of central control and they all pretty much failed.

BitCoin was the first truly peer2peer digital currency. Before BitCoin nothing could be sent instantly over great distances, and divided into almost nothing, without central control.

Gold is peer2peer as is barter but neither of these are as convenient as BitCoin.

Tenebrix was created to beat SC2 as the first CPU coin.

~BCX~

Yeah like I said, to keep CPU mining worthwhile. SC2 doesn't need miners. Cheesy
