Theymos recently posted on reddit that China's great firewall is now blocking bitcointalk access to all areas of China, apart from an area in Shanghai where the Bitcoin Conference is being held.

You can check out which areas are affected here

Which area of China are you posting from?

This link http://www.greatfirewallofchina.org/index.php?siteurl=bitcointalk.org that theymos gave for testing bitcointalk accessibility from China still shows it is blocked.

http://s9.postimg.org/gmolykj6n/firewall_of_china2.png

I heard a small area of Shanghai catering for westerners still has access, but nowhere else.

ehm, i'm pretty sure google was banned from china like, forever.

it's pretty useless in china in the first place, as their version of the internet is much different, like 80% of the websites we commonly use are off-limits.

and even though we can access their websites without problem, we haven't even really heard of the websites they like to use. (and most of us wouldn't understand chinese anyway).

Few speculators in Chinese would log here to do some studies

They just follow the VIP's on weibo or weixin to do speculations.

so, the answer would be no

Posting from Shanghai. Bitcointalk still good for tonight.

The article linked below says a special area of Shanghai designed to cater for westerners is the only area of China that you can access bitcointalk from. People at the Shanghai bitcoin conference have no problems accessing bitcointalk, but it's blocked everywhere else in China.

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/great-firewall-of-china-blocks-bitcointalk-org/

Quoting from the linked article

The Shanghai Bitcoin Conference currently being held at the Lake Meilan International Convention Center provided censorship-free internet service to conference attendees via a proxy.

The Chinese government decided to allow this gap in their wall “in order to welcome foreign companies to invest and to let foreigners live and work happily in the free-trade zone, we must think about how we can make them feel like at home.”
