The organization is led by Jerry Brito, a law professor and a former research fellow at George Mason's Mercatus Center. In an announcement made Thursday, Brito said Coin Center is a "new non-profit research and advocacy center focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrency technologies."

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Bitcoin needs think tanks as well as foundations.

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.
