Please see this draft regarding our transition to the Proof Of Research wallet around mid October (shortly before our 1 year anniversary):

http://www.gridcoin.us/guides/gridcoinpor.pdf

This guide outlines the major differences between the existing proof of work wallet and PoR wallet.

Regarding advertising, we started advertising on Bing, and have had over 500,000 impressions with 600 click throughs.
We plan on advertising on CCT in late October, and Google in November.

In parallel, we are starting a Gridcoin Foundation.  RTM will head that up along with help from Alien.  We are keeping close track to all exchanged coins via the coin burning program over the next 6 months.  After the period is over, we would like to fund the foundation with the remaining unclaimed coins and use it for advertising and or critical community projects.

Also, we just hit 1 billion Boinc Credits!

Our new wikipedia site:
wiki.gridcoin.us
is designed to share information regarding complex processes.  We will be adding topic for the timeline and coin exchange program in October 2014.

Please see this draft

Wow - lots of detail - lots of work there. One quick proofreading issue: BOINC (the acronym) appears variously as Boinc and boinc in the draft, which might irritate people at Berkeley.       Wink

I expect to hear more and more buzz about Gridcoin.  It is an awesome concept with development focused on long term success.

I expect to hear more and more buzz about Gridcoin.  It is an awesome concept with development focused on long term success.
How about stating some of our benefits in OP, so ppl consider looking into the papers.

Gridcoin benefits society and medical research by redirecting the massive computational force of the global hashing network to scientific programs like cancer research, Alzheimer's, AIDS and Malaria countermeasures. Desktop computers help in distributed tasks that progress science at Universities (e.g. protein folding). No special mining equipment is needed, computing tasks are too general for ASICs, so the currency stays decentralized!
By introducing Proof-of-Research, we are able to direct nearly all of the available processing power to advance science. Only a small overhead is necessary to secure network logistics. Which is by design the smallest footprint possible, as our network security model is improving on industry leading Proof-of-Stake implementations already being energy efficient. Proof-of-Research factors in mandatory BOINC participation for all clients in a cryptographically strong way. All of this is open source, go look into it!

This is only starting to pick up. Until people fully understand the concept of scientific research there is much marketing effort to be put in place. But, first things first. Smiley

just revived our marketing thread on BCT, was dead because our community is centered around CCT (cryptocointalk)
here you can find former PR: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=452322
but insider marketing dicussions still take place at https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/464-gridcoin-grc/

Very excited to see all the energy that was spent on hashing be re-directed to computational research.  Gridcoin is truly changing the way we think about under-utilized and miss-allocated compute resources.  By compensating individuals to use their consumer grade hardware to its fullest it is creating a distributed super computer that works hard every day to find cures for disease, solve mathematical problems, and contribute to other area's of study that would not otherwise have the capability.

+1 well done.     "Proof of Research" i love it.

Great Coin :-) was Mining it since january!  Thanks to the development team and people who put a lot of effort and time into this project.
Bittrex is hopefully seeing that and reacts in a respective way by adding Gridcoin.

Gridcoin is going to see the stars soon! more than 10000 satoshi are most likely possible since its really the one and only coins which definetly has a connection to real life activities and proofed research

Thanks a lot!

I hope we get picked up by some of the other bigger exchanges, because the current ones are very dodgy! I am sure it will happen eventually!

I know some have complained about deposit delays, but I have had not issues trading and withdrawing from Poloniex.

https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_grc

There is a mandatory update coming tomorrow so make sure the exchanges are up to date before depositing/withdrawing.

Have you tried depositing? I tried a small 10 grc test deposit the other day and after 24h it is still not in my acc, If I don't open a ticket it will prob never show up! Unless they have implemented some kind of manual review for deposits, I don't know what the problem is!

With the new POR system you don't have to mine at all, just keep your wallet open and collect your coins while running Boinc! That is it! What could be better than that?
No hefty power bills!!!! Everything you make will be pure profit! I used to mine a lot of different coins with my Rigs and those power bills at the end of the month are atrocious. Unless you can get super cheap or free electricity, mining pretty soon will be very expensive and risky proposition.

The Gridcoin - Proof or Research client has successfully launched and trading will begin soon on all exchanges!

Converting has begun from classic GRC to the new GRC-Proof of Research:  http://wiki.gridcoin.us/Events

With Gridcoin's innovative Proof of Research hashing, virtually all computing power can be directed at beneficial scientific and medical research while mining Gridcoin.

Please help Gridcoin today with your vote on reddit!
Only a few hours are left and we are heads up with another team,
please dont let us miss this media bushfire for the next big open source blockchain technology.

We’re Team Koinify: Help us choose the next crypto / dApp / open sourced project you’d like to see community crowdfunded!

campaign text:
 submitted by TeamKoinify

Hey /r/Bitcoin,
Team Koinify here. We’re a marketplace for decentralized applications (dApps), running crowdfunding campaigns to help fund dApp projects.
As a giveback to the community, we’d like to run a donation-based, zero-fee crowdfunding campaign for an open-sourced crypto project to help with their exposure and funding. We’re now crowdsourcing the most attractive and impactful project in the ecosystem.
This crowdfunding campaign will have no fee, but still vest on our milestone based fund release structure, such that developer will have fully aligned incentives to deliver after the crowdfunding ends. We want to leverage our connections and influence for the greater good by helping an early stage project emerge from the shadows. It will be 100% donation driven, with all the money going directly to the team. Koinify will do its customary and expected due diligence on the team and the project, vetting and ensuring they are worthy of the campaign.
What do you see as one of the most potentially disruptive areas/projects? Is it crypto infrastructure, is it a dApp, or is it an open sourced protocol? What project do you think will help push the crypto community forward as a whole?
Let us know in the comments below by telling us which project or team you’d like to see a crowdfunding campaign for, and why you believe they should be picked for the crowdfunding campaign. The raised BTC goal and time constraints will depend upon the project that is chosen by the community.
We will leave this thread open for 48 hours. After 48 hours, we will count the number of comments / votes. Let us know, and we can get this running as soon as possible.
Examples: BitMesh, DarkWallet, BitSquare, FactomLinux, etc. Projects that haven’t received VC funding, are open sourced, and that would help our community and ecosystem grow stronger.

If we can get Koinify to accept us, that would be superb. We can definitely hire some more developers, that would speed things up quite a bit.
