Well, with BFL under this cloud of stupidity, I realized that there's nowhere to send RMAs. Given that I own a Monarch (bought on Ebay for 2btc) and have taken it apart a fair bit, I'll make this offer to the community:

If your Monarch shuts down, blows up, or ceases to hash post here and let me know. I'll send you my address, and I'll fix the thing for you. Right now what I can see failing is the FETs, which I can fix as I have pulled a lot of them on the 65mn gear.

I have the tools, I have the cred, and I want to help the people who have these units. Price is free or whatever you want to pay me for this. I'd rather help than scalp.

Post wherever, this is an open offer. Let's pull together and mine like hell.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Well, I'm assuming you're not being facetious here. If BFL goes away it dosn't matter to me. As long as Mouser or Digikey exists I can get parts.

That's why I'm offering to help people who have them: It's a good product, and I'd be happy to work on it.

*snort* Well, it's a bump. However the best way so far apparently is to remove the heat sinks and dunk the unit in a vat of mineral oil.

Note: Don't do this. The results include fire and are hilarious. The sad part is that unit would be returned to BFL as a "warranty repair". Um yeah, right. :-)

Well, an update: Have two people sending over Monarchs for review. One leaked coolant and probably shorted a FET, the other is a unit which comes up but has no engines on both sides of the chips.

They're coming in USPS Priority Mail, will review over the weekend. Fees include donations to local food banks.

Will post thoughts and results.
