Just curious, why trade a better card (7970) for an inferior one?

The 6990 is a better card depending on application.  The 7970 is more power efficient, the 6990 can do more hashes.  Gaming should be better on the 6990 of noise is not an issue.

that, and I dont have to pay $600 for the 7970 with 3 displayports. you get nasty tearing on games if you don't use all the same connector and are using multiple monitors. also I doubt the 7970 has much on the 6990 in power consumption comparing two cards (4 gpu's vs 2 gpu's) but I should already have this taken care of. thanks
