Altcoins are getting more useful:

New video showing how you can use ShapeShift.io to spend Litecoin at any Bitcoin-accepting merchant.

In the example, the user goes to Overstock.com and buys a pair of sheets, checks out with Bitcoin, and then uses ShapeShift to pay the invoice with Litecoin.
