Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

The interesting thing is to know it's purchasing value... but how does one decide how much can 1 BTC buy if you don't compare it with FIATs?

This is like saying the most interesting thing about NASA spacecraft is the cost to build it. Nope, that's the boring part.

Well, you don't pay for things with NASA spacecraft.Considering BTC is supposed to be used to pay for things be used to tranfer value , then its purchasing value is very relevant.
