When will DeepWeb use Monero or BoolBerry instead? Those coins are totally trustless and decentralized when bringing stronger-than-Bitcoin anonymity. Bitcoin mixer is trust-required and centralized service, which makes people feel unsecure

Meuh6879 explains it a bit (but not good enough if you ask me) and digicoin's post doesn't help that much either. OP didn't want to know if the deep web should use something else, he just asked what it is.

Quote
A mixing service can be used to mix one's funds with others', with the intention of confusing the trail back to the funds' original source. In traditional financial systems, the equivalent would be moving funds through banks located in countries with strict bank-secrecy laws, such as the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and Panama[1].

Mixing helps protect privacy, but can also be used for money laundering - mixing illegally obtained funds. After laundering, the funds appear legitimate[2]. Mixing large amounts of money may be illegal, being in violation of anti-structuring laws.

There has been at least one incident where a Bitcoin exchange has blacklisted "tainted" deposits descending from stolen bitcoins[3]. Manual or lightly automated mixing methods can make detection of taint more difficult unless the exchange follows the trail[4], but this approach does protect privacy like a true mixing service would.

Caution: Mixing services may themselves be operating with anonymity. As such, if the mixing output fails to be delivered or access to funds is denied there is no recourse. Use at your own discretion.

Basically getting rid of coin's history and making not trackable.  Be careful and make sure you look at sites history as you send them your coins.

Indeed, I have no idea why someone would need to use a mixer.
Why don't they just use an off-chain gambling site like PD or an exchange like btc-e ?

A mixer makes it mathematically impossible to trace the provenance of coins, note that there may be both legit and illegit reasons for wishing this

People use mixers to make it so there is no trace of where their bitcoin came from (assuming you trust the mixer enough to not keep logs). If you were to "mix" your coins with a gambling site and/or an exchange then the gambling site and exchange would certainly keep logs as to where the coins came from and where they went.

Can I use a mixer to get rid of "dust"? I think someone says a lot of small transactions in a wallet create dust.
If I put it through a mixer, will it put all the small coins together, to get rid of the dust?

Or what do I do to get rid of the dust?

Absolute rubbish, I'd say a lot more people use mixers to maintain their privacy and remain anonymous. No doubt some criminals do use these kind of services but I can reassure you most illegal activity is carried out with fiat. Only have to look at financial institutions like HSBC who laundered $millions for mexican drug cartels.

You can create a transaction to another address in your wallet, to group your outputs.
But if you have many of those 1 satoshi dusts, it is better to not touch them so to save transaction fee.

I think it's better to use your own address, instead of a mixer.

Obviously not, what do you think? Why would they give away free coins?

In fact, you can earn some bitcoin by investing in Bitmixer.io's reserve. I haven't tried it, but that is what the site claims to do...

Why don't someone send coin to an exchange to buy a coin and withdraw instead of using a mixer?
