Hello
I have somes questions for Nefario. I see that GLBSE is hosted in the US. It's not immune to a crackdown for whatever dummy reason the state can come up with (and considering bitcoin that not a foolish scenario). In such a case, have you an emergency plan? Do you keep a safe copy of bitcoin wallets and ownership of shares (and where?) to restore the website and/or give btcs back to users?
Also, would you considering moving on tor network?
And last one, what is GLBSE current status regarding the law? Are you registered,...?
I'm sorry to ask all these questions but I would feel more comfortable if your great market was protected against various attacks from the law or other.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

They could always claim BTC is not a real currency and cite politicians saying the same. Everybody believes politicians no matter what they say.

We only keep a small amount of BTC in our hot wallet(on the server, all else is offline).
Our data is backed up off server, and we have backup non-us domains.
We are not a registered business anywhere (mybitcoin was registered, look how that helped).

Thanks. I really don't care about registration, quite the contrary, the more you're hidden from the law, the safer I'd feel investing my btc in GLBSE. thanks for your answer anyway |

For the moment yes, I think the bitcointalk forums server the purpose well enough and have an excellent, dedicated admins, GLBSE doesn't have the resources yet to offer that. The forum DB has been saved at least, so anything that was in it can be recovered. |

The forum DB has been saved at least, so anything that was in it can be recovered.
I agree with this decision 100%. It was actually doubly a pain to have to check two different places to try to keep an eye on things. Stay focused on what you're doing, making the exchange better and more reliable. bitcointalk is doing a fine job of what they're doing. |

The introduction of the "Securities" subforum kind of made it redundant anyway. |

I bought my first share at GLBSE today and I share the same concerns. I hope that GLBSE remains unregistered. I also hope that it is prepared against a full-scale attack/seizure from the state.
I believe that the banking cartel/global police state will eventually do everything in its power to destroy the Bitcoin economy.
Many people think that the recent FBI file on Bitcoin is harmless. I couldn't disagree more. I think it's the beginning step towards an all out war on Bitcoin.
I'm sort of sorry that GLBSE didn't start on Tor, with the owner's identity hidden, much like Silk Road. It's something new Bitcoin ventures should strongly consider. Wall Street and the state do not like competitors and they are not above killing masses of people to maintain their hegemony.
