When DOGE is going down, people think that its a badly-designed joke meme coin that had its fun, but soon will be completely dead.

When DOGE is going up, people start thinking that it actually has a shot to eclipse Bitcoin and completely take over the financial world someday.   Roll Eyes

Personally I don't think it will completely die (you can thank Coblee for resurrecting it from the dead with LTC AuxPOW, God only knows why he bothered).  But I don't think it will get far beyond a niche group of enthusiasts either.  The same can be said for hundreds of other alts, they'll still be around too.

Some of the other alts will survive, but I don't think any of them can come close to Bitcoin.
First mover advantage is huge in the cryptocurrency space. Smiley

Still 500% in 1month is gigantic, only happens during bubbles.
I am mildly-bullish, I don't see BTC going 500% in the next bubble.. at best we go back to $1100 before a gia-normous dump (expect it from all those who are regretting that they bought in the first place).

In my opinion Dogecoin is extremely undervalued. You really just need to look at the facts.

Don’t invest more than you can afford to lose.

One thing to be very aware of when it comes to DOGE: Liquidity - it does not have any.

Sure, the price may be X but if you want to actually sell more than pocket change then you will quickly learn that what you are actually able to sell it for is X minus 10-20%.

BTC is king because it has liquidity, if you want to buy or sell $100.000 worth then you can do so without much slippage. Try buying or selling the same amounts worth in any altcoin and you'll find that you can't without significantly moving the market. This is why DOGE price movements do not impress me.

Also.. look at #dogecoin on IRC. "OMG THERE IS A 10 BTC WALL" they say.. as if 10 BTC is any amount worth caring about.

About the meme:

Brand:

Dogecoin is a currency that was born on the internet and it is a part of the internet culture.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doge_%28meme%29

Dogecoin started as a joke. Absurdity and fun kept dogecoin in the top 10 cryptocurrencies in the “hyperinflation” phase. Community that remains passionate and doesn’t abandon the coin under high selling pressure from mining pools is a rare thing to find.

The culture is the main reason why many people prefer dogecoin over others, and it also what attracts a broader demographic that wouldn’t touch cryptocurrency otherwise.

Dogecoin is considered a beginner’s coin because of how easy and fun it is to use it.

High-risk, high-reward.

In my opinion it is more probable for Dogecoin to gain half of bitcoin market cap, than for bitcoin to show the same amount of growth in the same period of time.

But as always, don’t invest more than you can afford to lose.

I was actually sad when doge dying. Before that I didn't like it, because its fundamentals were so bad (and still are). Now I'm kind of happy it is rising. At least, the network is quite secure because of merged mining etc.

Still, doge is a joke. Newbies, don't get too greedy  Grin

Can you explain why you think the fundamentals are bad?
