So, I've never really been a Microsoft fanboy or anything. I mean, fuck, I absolutely hated Windows 8/8.1. I mean, literally never used either OS...
but windows 10 is actually pretty decent. They took a lot of the best shit from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and put it together. Lots of options and shit.

How do you know? Read it on-line or do you have it running? I downloaded the preview today but couldn't get it to work in my Oracle Virtualbox.

One of my buddies installed it fine in virtualbox. For vmware, I used windows 8 64 bit (for 64 bit windows 10). Any chance you just hit windows 8 rather than 64 bit?

I chose "Other OS (64 bit)". Didn't work. I also tried Windows 8.1 64 bit - that got a bit further but then failed as well.

Trying it now under Virtual Box now as "win 8.1 x64". I figure that's the closest to 10.
Win8 does have some improvements over win7. Just not in the UI arena.

So what does Windows 10 do good? What do you consider to be the best of Windows 8?
Resource usage. Idle only uses 500 mb of memory. Windows 7 uses ~1 gb idle. Start menu's back and pretty decent. Lots of customization features. Multi-window option (can have an infinite amount of "screens"). It's smooth like Windows 8. User interface is rather friendly, has a lot of backwards compatibility with 8 (you can enable start screen rather than start menu).

Mdude, did you get it working? I keep getting an error that it can't lock the memory needed, but I have allocated 6GB. Got it working.

I haven't heard anything about windows 10. As far I know Microsoft launch windows 8.1. May be I am wrong.

Resource usage. Idle only uses 500 mb of memory. Windows 7 uses ~1 gb idle. No it doesnt, not a fresh install: http://www.askvg.com/comparison-between-windows-7-and-windows-8-memory-management-system/Less than 512Mb. Of course the real issue with all windows versions to date is what happens over time as you install/remove software, drivers, service packs, .NET binaries, libraries of all kind and the registry continues to bloat to infinity.

32 bit vs 64 bit. Done. I was speaking of 64 bit on both cases. Literally, just installed windows 7 on ~6 computers. All of them idled around 700-1.1 GB for memory usage without ANYTHING else installed.

More likely is that those computers had more than 1GB Ram in them, and thus windows reserves more for diskcache. Either way, comparing with a feature incomplete version of 10 is a bit premature

I just see some people review it But, Windows 10 is still better than Windows 8/8.1 And i like DirectX 12 feature And multiplatform too More likely is that those computers had more than 1GB Ram in them, and thus windows reserves more for diskcache. Either way, comparing with a feature incomplete version of 10 is a bit premature
Usually cheap desktop have 2 GB RAM & Multimedia desktop have 4 GB RAM So, we don't need to worry about ram management in windows 10

Do not like the tinkering just for its sake. I used Windows XP, skipped Vista and using Windows 7 now. Windows 8 was filled with useless features.
Will see how 10 runs for some time before upgrading.
