More information about CryptoBucket here. Smiley

That page took a good 30 seconds to load...   Undecided

About 1 second for me. You might want to consider giving up the dialup service for something more up to date. lol

Ok, I tried it again just now and it came up almost instantly.

Are you on some kind of shared service?  One that gets slow during periods of peak activity?

No, I have a consistent 100-150 Mbps broadband.

I have been thinking about bitcoin social network for more than a month ago, and tried to contact some webmasters, but now I thought I should change and find another project.
Good luck, will take a look your site soon.

Interesting project, but needs to be converted to MVC. i have sent you a PM. i'm sure that i'm not the only one who would be interesting in participate in working on your project. you could create a private repo on bitbucket for us to work in our own trees if you are interested. I could drop a few hours a day on it. I can dev the full stack but most notably i'm a fairly highly touted UI/UX designer.

Thanks for getting in touch.  At this point I'm not interested in branching out with other developers, I have a few devs I can use already.  But thanks for the offer!

how noble. btw, your "few devs" obviously suck.

Surprised no one has mentioned Zap Chain yet http://www.zapchain.com/home/

You have strong competition there, and they have a clear reason why to use them over these forums

If you are the king of development show me your stuff.  How would you know if the devs I know suck considering I said I have devs I can use, not devs I have used?  One of them has two masters in computer science (one russia, one canada) with major's in artificial intelligence.    What you see in front of you is a package that was purchased for the sake of getting something going quick.

I've also been a web developer (as in paid by a firm, not sitting in my moms basement looking for work) since '96.

Sounds like you need to make some friends or something.. Wink

Thanks for all the input people! Smiley

I'm going to keep puttering away on it, I understand that there isn't many users which doesn't bring much value, unfortunately no social network starts with 10k users. over 250 in the first week though! :p

The first small giveaway went well although I do notice that many users are most likely only signing up for the giveaway as they don't add an avatar. This is also getting some traffic from being an old doge faucet so it brings in a bunch of people that only want free doges.. lol  I've added a sign in with twitter option to help those that don't want to have to give out their email address or are to lazy to signup.

I'm certainly interested in ideas that you guys think will help draw more users.  I'm working on putting charts and stuff inside the site instead of linking out to exchanges but that comes with the problem that places like bittrex don't have historical data to download so I have to start my charts with fresh data as soon as the code is done.

My gears have been turning,  there's gotta be a million things crypto people want that they can't get on facebook and twitter and all it will take is that one little feature that will bring users in to use the site.

My other thought was crypto rewards for participation..  as in, if you like, share, comment, follow, etc, you get a satoshi of some crypto or something.  Haven't thought it through completely yet though.

I have a VPS that shouldn't be effected by peak periods.  I don't think I've ever seen the site take 30 seconds to load to be honest. ..and I work on it at random times of the night and day.  Glad it came up fast the next time you checked it out! Smiley

Lol, nice rebuttal. you made it sound as if "your devs" were the one who built the site, so thats why i said they sucked. If you are interested in setting up a repo and getting some free help, i would happily participate. As i previously told you, i dev the full stack. I work primarily in ecommerce, a social network might be a breath of fresh air to me. I think i could add value to your team as a volunteer contributor in an open source project. If you've no interest in that, thanks anyway.

Actually, cryptobucket looks WAY better than my social network site. I recommend CRYPTOBUCKET.COM and in fact I would be very interested in BUYING the site if the owners are ever interested in selling ...

Thanks moriartybitcoin!   We're working hard over here!  We are currently working on an application framework to allow developers to create apps for inside of CryptoBucket.

We are not interested in selling the site. Smiley

I am beginning to treat bitcointalk.org as my social network of choice.

You also have decentralized social networks being set up, which reward their users.

We've had a bitcoin private key hunt already and will be giving away $100 worth of crypto when we hit 100 users.

I'm also looking into doing a revenue share with users.  The idea is that ad revenues will be divided up by activity "shares" and each user gets a piece of the advertising revenue based on how many activity shares.  Activity shares would be given out for actions such as creating a post, being followed by people, liking posts, etc.  I'm not looking to have a million banners all over the page, just a couple spots that don't get in the way.

What is the point of a Bitcoin social network? The elite would rather meet behind closed doors in europe surrounded by attractive ladies, security, drinks, some snacks, the works. The most beautiful part is that it would be exclusive and so no one would harrass you with their stupid crap.

Well first of all, social network site for bitcoiners creates trust. Make it more easy to transact with BTC.

We already have Bitcoin-OTC for that without trusting a TTP.
