If we make pluto a planet, we need to make another thousand asteroids a planet as well.
Pluto is an excellent example of why you need to revisit old beliefs (i.e. a 2000 year old bible)

Pluto straight up doesn't behave like all the other planets though. The only argument for Pluto being made a planet is the "But I grew up with Pluto as a planet" sort of nostalgic bullshit argument. Like the other poster said, if you make Pluto a planet, then by that definition, you'd have to let a lot more other asteroids get planetary status.

Pluto is not a planet. The definition of what a planet is changes with time as our understanding of the solar system evolves. The sun and the moon used to be considered planets while the Earth was originally not considered a planet. Asteroids were called planets when they were first discovered. Many Pluto like objects are being discovered in the Kuiper belt and either the number of planets in the solar system needed to increase by dozens or Pluto had to be called something else. I think the right decision was made.

Modern sense , no
Classic sense , yes
If it had not been discovered over 80 years ago and was discovered more recently it would not be classified a planet.
Several small rocks ....
But I like the 'classic' aspect of astronomy and feel it should be called a planet out of 'respect' for the work that lead to its discovery and other things.

The IAU stated that Pluto is no longer classified as a planet; a few scientists opinions don't invalidate that. That is like David Beckham making his own rules in soccer vs what the official FIFA rules are.

Earth is a giant rock. My cock is a giant rock. About the same size of earth too. Pluto's not a planet. \thread If the Earth and your cock are of the relative same size and considered rocks, would that make you a Plutophile since being an expert in such cumparisons?
