I deem thee FUD; only the Amish have a resistance to cryptocurrency! However, I suspect even they can be digitized with hand written paper wallets and QR codes.

I thought Russia banned Bitcoin awhile ago. Seems like it's been banned several times already. As long as China doesn't ban it for the thirteenth time!

Interesting, they were against it some time ago, but then reversed their stance. I wonder what made them change their mind again! It could be a desire to completely control monetary instruments, though... Who knows!

I'm not exactly clued up on my history but why are Russia so against BTC?
Is it because they're a former communist state & are terrified of uber rich oil billionaires like Roman Abramovich using BTC instead of Russian money to avoid tax?
This is bull **** Russia are just scared of rich Russians using BTC to avoid taxes by Putin (with reference to a BTC ban in Russia).
''Due to the sheer volatility of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and the fact that these cryptocurrencies are not backed by any assets, many financial advisers have been agreeing with this decision as it is simply being done for the benefit of the people''
They don't care about 'the people' they are protecting themselves.

Interesting, they were against it some time ago, but then reversed their stance. I wonder what made them change their mind again! They realized finally what they are dealing with here... well not truly, because they are dealing with inevitability, but they must see bitcoin's potential to rob nations of their monopoly over money creations and give back power to the people in a world-changing, irreversible way. Bitcoin is a truly frightening prospect for any tyrant or oligarch that is paying attention.

lol such things make me laugh really:D just how do they think to monitor this stuff?I don't say automatically russian govt is so very stupid as to think its easy to "switch off" bitcoin knowledge, but really even its plan to switch off internet access in "time of crisis" couldnt stop bitcoin. just the volumes from russia on this forum suggest it's already engrained enough not to be forgotten..

It's basically impossible, think about it. How ridiculous it would be to monitor ever single computer for traces of Bitcoin. The amount of money they would lose trying to do this would be way bigger than what they could lose by just allowing Bitcoin flow freely. It's a lossing game and Putin is making a clown out of himself.

Even the Russian gov stops the internet connection, ppl there can still keep bitcoin in paper wallet and barter the paper wallet for fiat or any other things. Bitcoin is embedded into many citizens' mind and can always find ways to deal with it.

The amount of money they would lose trying to do this would be way bigger than what they could lose by just allowing Bitcoin flow freely. It's a lossing game and Putin is making a clown out of himself. The Russin government was actually looking into ways they could potentially turn off the internet in the event of a "crisis" which would be a little bit easier if they control (or sufficiently) control the ISPs in the country, they could simply direct them to stop providing interne access.
