Check these out: IRS 501(c)(3) Public Charities That Accept Bitcoinhttps://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758674.0I've personally sent money to several of these in the Humanitarian, Social, Religious section. Most the ones on the list have a well-developed and credible web presence. That they have done the hard work to secure the IRS certification also speaks to their longevity and investment in their missions.

I am pretty sure the list more or less ends here, but even donating to them is not the best idea as their site could easily get hacked (and the hacker would change the donation address and tag their "new", fake address). There are a huge amount of donation scams out there and will continue to have them due to the anon and irreversible nature of bitcoin.

I ususally use my btc for gambling purposes and only feel its right to give to less fortunate with any big wins...

So if I donate 1$ how much of that will go to the animals? If you donate 1$, animals will get 1$. Neither I nor bitmarket.pl ever took any fees on these donations. EDIT. Posted this from my other account by mistake lol.

Posted this from my other account by mistake lol. This is not quite accurate. Charities, like all other organizations have expenses and bills to pay, and in the case of charities are paid out of donations. Charities have an efficiency ratio, which measures the percentage of donations that actually go to help the cause they are supporting. There are many charities that have a very low efficiency ratio, sometimes below 33%.

It would be nice if the community can make a collective list. I know there are people on the forums who have a focus on their own various charities.

There is this really amazing organisation called Art in All of Us and I just recently convinced them to start accepting bitcoin. They are my first "big catch" since I started evangelising. They work with children all over the world but especially in less developed countries. Their programs have reached almost half a million children across the globe. They are a registered organisation both in Belgium and in the US. This is a summary of their activities written by them: Art in All of Us (AiA) is a not for profit organization based in Belgium and in the United States (501(c)(3)) that promotes tolerance and cultural exchange through art. Backed by organizations like the UNICEF, SOS Children Villages, Fundacion America and important network of volunteers, AiA’s activities have reached more than 450,000 children and 4000 schools in 193 countries. You can donate bitcoin here: http://artinallofus.org/single-donation.htmlAlso, if you have any comments regarding how they implemented the donation buttons etc. please let me know and I will forward the info to them. They just enabled this two days ago, please make them happy and show them that it really made sense to do this!

There are many charities that have a very low efficiency ratio, sometimes below 33%. Not all charities work the same pal, especially in different countries. Our charity is getting other donations and support from companies and schools, see the list here There is also animal pharmacy shop and income from that goes towards bills and running expenses. For example here you can see official donations statement. (I know it's in polish, but it basically says they spent everything what they collected on food and supplies for animals. No bills or taxes.)

May I commend the list I edit here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758674.0It is the best collective list I know of anywhere, and I constantly review every other list and resource I can find, to keep it comprehensive and up-to-date. I just added one more public charity this morning, after reading a recommendation on this topic thread. I ask for everyone's help with this list. It is very much a work in progress.
