To give you couple of concrete examples, the Continuumcoin has just been broken down in the above manner. It was functional just few weeks ago, but now none of the existing users can find each other anymore. Another even more interesting example is provided by the Unum; it has the same problem with synchronizing, plus the PoS part ceased functioning after a while in a way that prevent it from starting again even if the users could find each other again.

Are you sure that what is going on with Continuum is not
just forking? That can be fixed by deleting block database and
syncing with a good node. As for Unum, I took a look and it
seems ppl abandoned it long before the PoS stage started.
In any case, if PoS is nonfunctional it is likely to be a glitch
in the code (i.e. bad clone).

I can't be 100% sure but have tried deleting and syncing several times.

I have to take another look at it.

I'm rather new to the crypto coin scene but have a long background in data recovery and IT systems design & troubleshooting.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I have a corrupt thumb drive that held a file containing the password to quite a lot of money. Do you know of any software that could help retrieve the file?

I tried with PC inspector data recovery, tokiwa, undelete plus, portable undelete, and OSForensics. However, I could only recover a partially corrupt version of the file that does not contain the password I need.

I'm sure there are others here in the same position who would be grateful for any advice you can give.

Hi!

A software solution probably won't help you.

I have a hardware based system here (DeepSpar with the USB add-on) and can give it a go, if you can send the drive to me.
