im looking at buying a large number of BTC, i usually use local bit coins.
as some of you might have seen in my older posts i got scammed by a nice person on here (son of a bitch i'll track him down one day) using paypal.
so paypal definitely out of the question.

the reason im asking for advice is this..

localbitcoins website works GREAT, i enjoy buying from the site, its super fast, safe etc etc
BUT the prices on there are quite high, the people selling on there are usually look for a decent profit margin i believe.

...or i could be mistaken? maybe somebody can clear this up for me??

basically i look at it this way..

the the exact time im writing this ive pulled up BTC-E and localbitcoins, as well as google for USD to AUD exchange rate.

on localbitcoins
cheapest selling BTC right now: 395AUD

BTC-e: 318 USD

1 aud = 0.87 USD

318USD in AUD 364..
thats $30 difference per BTC.
is there a quick and easy way to get it at this price in australia?

I realise it is not a solution now, but this IMO will dominate the Australia market for exactly what you are looking for - http://www.bitsquare.io/

The sooner the smart guys behind it have it finished the sooner the Australian tax issue is a non-issue...

yeah i have a full length post about it.
i sent the money he said that paypal told him that it didnt clear and that he wanted to wait a few days, wouldnt send BTC.
then i figured id just cancel the whole thing, opened a dispute, he escelated it to a claim, because it was digital goods, no insurance on my end.
money was sent to him.
convinced me to send him the paypal fees too, i figured by this time if he wasnt a scammer he might actually send me btc,
so i did that.. he said he sent them, i kept checking my account.. nothing.
called paypal was on the phone with them for a while, explained the situation they reversed it luckily.
the guys name is "penner" on this group, tried to deny everything, i posted screen shots of everything basically.
im glad paypal was able to reverse it, he even sent a a picture of his id and a picture of him holding his id which matched the paypal email and name
really dodgy mother fucker. i assume fake account+somebody elses stolen photo.
it took me a few hours to sort it all out. paypal in australia was closed too so i had to call USA paypal.
i call him on skype from time to time to leave him abusive messages. lol

Coinjar has worked well for me in the past. Have bought over 30 btc.

However of recent, their exchange rate has resulted in only $94 worth of coin for every $100. That was before gst introduction so it may be well lower now.

Re the daily limit, it goes up pretty fast If you do frequent purchases. Mine is over $5k / day.

Try to get an account accepted on circle.com. my suncorp didnt work, some other guys anz also didnt work. But another guy got his st george visa debit accepted.

Circle would be the best if it works for you.

Good luck and be safe.

Hit me up if you're still looking to buy coin. I accept payment to my Commbank, NAB and BOQ accounts (transfer or branch deposit).

I can also trade in person if you live in Sydney.

LBC has those inflated price because you're paying for the anonymity and receiving your btc quickly. You don't need to go through the hassle of document verification or go through AML checks.

Yep, it's the convenience premium, plus GST is crippling competitive rates locally. You need to buy offshore, then you either need to find someone that accepts a credit card or will take paypal. Otherwise you're forking out $20-40 per Western Union or MoneyGram transfer.

My BOQ Visa Debit worked with Circle on Saturday, now it's not even passing transactions through to be authorised.

Am wondering whether value has anything to do with it.

Are you willing to disclose value of successful dep and value of unsuccessful dep?
(Its ok if you want to keep that private)

It was only USD1 as a test each time. First transaction was successful, here is the transaction as shown on my BOQ transaction listing:

06/10/2014   CIRCLE INTERN 617-3268326 US FCY AMOUNT 1.03 CCY CONV FEE 0.03   $1.23

Total of 6% fees in this situation to purchase, including Circle's card fee + BOQ's foreign conversion fee.

Thank you for providing those details.

Seems the amount of deposit is not a factor.

Hi i'm in Aus, I've been trying to buy some BTC for nearly a week now.  I had previously used coinjar but i refuse now on the basis of the GST. I tried circle but they wont accept any of my cards,  I tried LBC & thought I found a local person to meet up with in cash (100+feedback) but he didn't response past the initial message & that's turned me off the experience.

After searching for more reputable companies I tried cointree, but they aren't accepting anymore deposits.  Then on Monday I setup with Igot.com, this all seemed to be going very well I did a test deposit of $100 over bpay & was able to buy the next day, however I then discover you have to wait a week to be able to withdraw from there  Angry  .

So after nearly a week I am still without any purchased coins in my wallet, however once igot is past the 1 week stage they look like a good option, that is untill the ATO gets hold of them

BTW this is a useful site if you aren't aware - http://comparebitcoins.net/

I got this email just now from Circle:

Since our official launch on September 29th, we have tightened our security. This has had the result of blocking almost every non-US card until we are able to establish official partnerships with other countries banking institutions. I know that this is not convenient for you at this time, but making this possible is a priority for Circle.
