I am getting this message when I try to PM:
Quote
You have exceeded the limit of 10 personal messages per hour.

Do I need to become a donator to get rid of this limitation? I wanted to be a donator anyway, so if there are instructions on how to do that, let me know. If I could have the restriction removed otherwise that'd be handy because I do most of my debt collection work via PM. Thanks!

Even the admins and mods are subject to that limit. Sorry.

I admin a couple of my own SMF forums, it's changeable by default and with modification packages you can change it per user/group: (mods are also exempt by default)

Is that SMF 2.0 or 1.1.16?

Mods as in, global moderators are exempt, and "modifications to change permissions". Only I was wrong...

I stand corrected, no modification is needed. In the admin section you can actually specify which groups have rights to send specific private message counts: (image from one of the forums I run is below)

What you then do is remove the limitation on the global board setting (make it 0 or unlimited). Then you limit based on group permissions (make newbies like 5-10, members 10-20, etc.).

PM me or reply here if you have any more questions.

Yes.

For someone who administers 2 SMF forums he doesn't seem to understand much of what he's administering lol

Thanks for the cheap slam, psy...

I was misinformed on that as well then? There are several places on the web that seem to indicate it is PMs per hour and I just tested it on my forums and I'm able to manage this setting. Sorry if you're having trouble configuring it, I haven't had any and I'm testing it on one of my forums right now, both groups are posting at the rates I have configured. On the other hand I did so many third-party hacks it is entirely possible I fixed this with a code change I found on the SMF forums.
