Threat, racket ?

Hi to all,

Im new to bitcoin and Im observing this new economy grow up. Some aspects are very positive (decentralized, micro-payment, no fee) and some scary me (anonymous transaction). Im wandering if a civilized world can accept the development of a such tool or trying to destruct  it.

Imagine: I receive a transaction of 1 btc with the message attached : You have 48 hours to pay X btc to YYYYY or i kill your site/cat/son...

If Im scary about the message and I decide to invest time and money to find the sender, what can i do ? What the police can do ?

You cannot receive a transaction with a message attached in such a way.

If you send a letter with no return address, $1 inside and make the same threat, how would that be different than your scenario? It's an illogical fear. Cash can be used as anonymous as bitcoins only bitcoins can be traded electronically within seconds.

Furthermore most consumers would be wise to keep their btc addresses private. If someone somehow threatens me in the way you described, and he sent it to an address I've only used on one website, then it makes my ability to pinpoint who it was much easier. In fact, I'd almost argue it would be easier to track down this activity rather than an anonymous letter sent to your house.

Post the message on the forum and place a bounty on the head of the person who sent it.
