Comparing gavin's original article  a-scalability-roadmap and coindesk's report

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/2014/10/a-scalability-roadmap/

http://www.coindesk.com/gavin-andresen-bitcoin-hard-fork/

Coindesk even don't mention gavin's proposal on  solving initial block download problem which doesn't need hard fork . Many ppl will run bitcoin-core (partial ledger) even on their phone .Thinking of boosting the whole bitcoin network scale in a not far future , this is really a big promotion !

BUT why coindesk provides a biased report ??? Angry

Biased against Bitcoin? Or biased in favour of getting people to read their article? If you haven't run out of fiat yet, then don't worry, the media haven't run out of FUD slinging stories! With any luck, the US Marshalls will announce a December auction for the next batch of Ross Ulbricht's coins before this week is done....  Cheesy

And I'd much rather Gavin would announce controversial things like a block limit hard-fork at times like this anyway (even if it's not a firm roadmap for that, just him bringing everyone up to speed on mailing list discussions), this is what they call "a good week to bury bad news".

i have been reading Coindesk for quite some time now and find most articles well written but very brief, it's more like just headlines sometimes.
Cointelegraph is a bit better i think, more articles and a bit longer of a read.
Just started looking at InsideBitcoins, looks ok but haven't had time to look at it much yet.

The Gov't wont be selling those 144k coins until ross' trial is over, they might even wait until all of his appeals are done, although unlikely. they say the trial will start in Jan, but don't hold your breath, they could easily continue it again. When they do get around to the actual trial, I believe it will take 2-4 months since there is so much information and hes got a great attorney so he will be picking apart every little detail. The govt will eventually get around to selling them, my bet is that it will be about a year before that happens.... also, hes got the maryland indictments to worry about after NY. so, this thing is a long way from being over and they wont sell those coins until his guilt is assured and the case is over.

Huh?  They are selling 50,000 of them.  One of us is missing something.

I forgot that Russ' attorneys agreed to sell the 144k coins and they would fight for the dollars later.. the 50k that are being sold this month are most likely from the 144k that was part of his personal stash and not on the SR site..

Ive tried to find the letter from his attorneys stating that but cant find. He hasn't been found guilty and if the govt confiscates property or cash from you, you have a certain amount of time to fight it. He didn't fight the the coins that came directly from the SR site, because if he did, he would be admitting that he controlled them and was indeed DPR.

The 144k coins were on his personal wallet that didn't have andy direct ties to SR, so russ' attorneys said they wanted to fight for them, but then agreed to sell the coins since bitcoin is so volatile and will fight for the money after the trial.

Id like to hear where he got that many coins... Would love to see his farm Grin  (j/k)....

What I cant to wait to find out (if we ever do)is how the government was able to decrypt his wallet. Ross did some stupid things, but I find it hard to believe that he didn't have 144k bitcoins locked up tight as a drum. My gut feeling is that the FBI got into his house when he wasn't home and put on a key logger, that makes the most sense, as the FBI is very good at doing things  like that. Or he could have had the wallet opened when they took him down, but still, you would need a password to send coins. The trial is going to be very interesting...Why he didn't have the majority on a paper wallet and sent to a relative with the instructions "Dont open unless I get arrested or dead" Both DPR's were very book smart,, just dumb ass criminals...

He was taken down October 3rd I believe and they didn't get the 144k coins until a couple to three weeks later, so maybe they just had the NSA or their super computers do the work...

I guess we will just have to wait for the movie that Fox is producing. The BBC and A&E and Vice are doing a big documentary on this as well titled "The Dread Pirate Roberts"

Where did you get this advance warning about the auction from? You did a brilliant piece of research.

There are a couple of FBI agents that love to talk to reporters, Most of the time they just pull shit out of their asses, but some info is spot on... But, it does sound like you got that info from a source.. Care to share?
