The exchange rate is at an all time high and then some. Are you buying coins at $7.50 USD/BTC and if so why?

Yes, I have bought some. Because I believe it will rise much further, even in the short term.

Pffffff, I'm selling and recovering initial investments before the big crash.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

No, since I can find cheaper at mtgox.

Saying that I buy at any price doesn't mean I chose the worst offer.

Dito. I'd rather average out as price rises than sit on 1000 BTC when they move to 0.

Sad part is that all of this fun and profiting will only be possible on the back of a "select few/many" that end up with the short straw in the end, having given all the real world money they can to the rest that cashed out while now stuck with BTC..

One strategy is to target a USD value for your bitcoin holdings (especially if you're planning to retire in the US on the basis of bitcoin holdings) and then set (m,n) so that you're periodically selling m% of your holdings and buying US$n worth of bitcoin (obviously netting those two out).  E.g. you'll eventually have US$1m if you're selling 0.01% and buying $100 every month (you'll only be net-selling if your bitcoin holdings are currently above US$1m, but as long as the bitcoin price isn't monotonically decreasing over the discrete transaction times, you'll most likely build-in some trading profit as you bought more when it was cheap thus reducing your cost basis)

I bought some as a long term - high risk investment. (or possibly to buy stuff with them when they get more widely accepted)

I don't buy bitcoin. I horde or earn them through trade.

I'm buying because they are still cheap. People say "They won't keep increasing in value because they can't be used for many things", but I have faith that economics is correct and entrepreneurs will continue to innovate in the Bitcoin economy. More goods and services will continue to be offered, and by the time the average Joe realizes that Bitcoins are a solid medium of exchange, the price will already be sky high.

I like to think that I'm not investing in a digital commodity, but in a new economy.

I have a feeling this will be the new sport for a while -  digging up old "it's going to crash soon" threads and replying to them in hopes the OP was email subscribed...

I sincerely would like everyone to realize their bitcoin ride isn't over until they A) cash out or B) die. Until one of those two things you have hypothetical profit because bitcoins could be back to $5 tomorrow.

Me? I'm just the cynical voice floating in the sea of unchecked optimism.

I buy at any price below 1000EUR/BTC.

This is what I am doing. Im turning all my fiat money into Bitcoin as fast as I can. And probably I will continue doing so even after 1000EUR/BTC if the fundamentals are still okay.

indeed no one can predict what kind of bitcoin is in our situation, so it is just as difficult for us to predict it. but we can see bitcoin from past movements which may have the same movement as today. from there we can analyze something even though the possibility of the analysis may not be the same, but there is an attempt to be able to have a handle so that it is not too wrong.

but we also have to be realistic in analyzing everything that happens because if we can't distinguish, of course it is strange because we are given to think. So I can't believe that tomorrow sometime that bitcoin will be back at $ 5. all can have different views and we must respect it because all analysis is possible.

the right time if the price is going down and have the funds, presumably to be able to buy bitcoin and make an investment because it will always increase, now or maybe in the future.

Well if i owned a lot of money I will surely buy more bitcoin because I believe that at the end o the year bitcoin will rise up to 100k$ or above. So buying this dip is maybe has a big advantage than buying when the price start to rise, because we can posibly get more profit on buying it on dip than buying it when the price is rising, i know that it is risky but we need to take the risk for good.

Thats just the power of hindsight, we've had similar in stocks for years especially anything tech related looks bad when you look back and werent bullish enough.   I wanted to buy MSFT early nineties, I was using that new thing windows seemed like a buy to me and I was literally a pauper but still many regrets.   Bigger still it was a recent buy and I knew as much, biggest take for me is we usually cycle up down but its never perfectly easy at that time.

I like the old threads, it adds perspective and shows how human nature just repeats continually and some will always divide between bullish and bearish but the reasoning is that counts most.  BTC has crashed, many times and recovered many times more I guess we got to handle thats normal.

Looking for oldest btc is dying post from proudhon

One thing I was going to say was the ultimate bearish take, everything is dying on a long enough time line.   We going to get some giant solar storm hit us one day and fracture the protection we have like an EMP pulse it can reset alot of tech perhaps.   To have natural deflationary events is the norm, yet we carry on and somehow survive.   If anyone is only negative they are unbalanced in their view, to include both polar opposites I could salute that tbh.
