It’s been nearly a year since Goldcoin Lead Developer, Amir Eslampanah, first announced his bold plan to rewrite the Bitcoin codebase and create a truly customized and unique java client. Now, finally, after months of laboring over miles of code, an alpha will be born this month and released unto the open-source wild. For ten months he has labored in his private computer laboratory creating the building blocks that will propel Goldcoin closer to its destination of reaching critical mass. Eslampanah explained over Skype: "In terms of wallet functionality, modularity, security, and sheer performance, the Goldcoin wallet will be unrivaled. Block download times will also be decreased considerably thanks to on-the-fly compression and multi-threaded download capability." After finding the standard Bitcoin codebase not suitable as a cryptocurrency foundation, Akumaburn (as he is known on the forums), set out to create something bigger, something better, something he could call his very own. The new client would make Goldcoin the first mineable cryptocurrency built on Java, the first to rewrite the Bitcoin codebase, and the first to support multiple cryptocurrencies. In an industry that awards innovation, this new application could become a winner. On October 17th, the world will get its first view of the young developer’s latest masterpiece. Goldcoin (GLD) is a popular digital currency that allows consumers to make online purchases with little to no fee. Goldcoin is currently trading at just under one cent per coin with a market capitalization of $210,212.00 according to Coinmarketcap.com. I have been waiting for this for many months. I will continue to wait with a skeptical attitude and a look of disbelief.

I'm not a big fan of Java but this does sound really interesting especially the speedup fixes ! I like Multibit (java BTC client) so i guess i am not that against Java though.. i heard they have a massive re-write of their wallet too coming up soon ..i seen some pics of it like 2 months back i think. Worthy news and worthy of a bump for sure

Do you really have to comment on every thread on this forum? I'm starting to think there is some kind of payment channel for these people. some sort of spamming warehouse for cryptocoins. anyone know about this? elsewhere I showed NXT was trafficking bitcointalk.org logins.

How often do we here about stuff like that vs superficial gimmick crap features ? That sounds great and i almost wish i had some GoldCoins LOL i have not had any GLD since mid-last year'ish back when headless was pumping it days. hmm what ever happened to him ? or should i say what other user names does he have in the scene ? hmm ? Those (cryptsy) IFC and GLD pumps etc back then were legendary ! these noobs here never seen an entire exchange pump a coin in perfect unison all working together.. it was amazing and i knew it then. and i also never seen anything close to repeating ever again on any exchange since.. regardless of how much the noobs throw the word pump around nubs don't know what a REAL pump is

Getting sentimental ? Nostalgic toughs about the past pumps and dumps ? BTW headless was really good. I'm still using many of his trading advices.

Getting sentimental ? Nostalgic toughs about the past pumps and dumps ? BTW headless was really good. I'm still using many of his trading advices. Worth remembering At the time everyone thought fontas was 'the' pumper, behind the scenes on a bit of a quiet I was easily killing most fontas pumps dead in there tracks. Then headless can along, I played the same old dumping on the pumps game, and bam what a shock, no matter size of the dump or the wall, his pump just steam rolled over me and humbled me pretty quickly. Defeated but grinning from ear to ear after enjoying an epic battle. Current pumpers are boring by comparison, lack heart because they are just scaming for the money, for headless it was more about the game. Hate mindless pumps but full respect to headless for the entertainment value

back on topic though; gldcoin seems to be creeping up on Cryptsy (is it traded anywhere else nowadays?).
Interested to see the if the new clients anything of note compared to the hype by what now is a very small band of supporters.
