Can anyone here please help me and tell me why my posts are increasing but my activity is stable at 42?

Not all your posts are converted into activity. A maximum of 14 posts would be added to your activity every 2 weeks. The other posts that weren't added to your activity would be added onto other fortnights.

If however you haven't reached your 14 activity limit in a fortnight, new posts would update your activity within an hour.

That won't do anything at all. You need to make at least one post every two week period to get the 14 activity points.

So in simple terms, just one post a day

If your post count >> activity, just making a post every 14 days will give you 14 activity.
Otherwise, yup, go make 14 posts in each period to max out your activity.
