I believe, Putin doesn't want his country to grow. He doesn't want financial inclusion and all those advantages that comes along with Bitcoin.
Russian loves physical gold more than virtual gold of future. Therefore, Mother Russia is trying to protect interest of their citizens.

Putin hates Satoshi Nakamoto/Japan. Or maybe, he does not understand and likes internet, emerging disruptive technologies like us. He wants his country to go back into Stone Age.

Fair enough? Grin
