It is obvious that they all take and track our data in the web, but is there any other alternative?
Use VPN?
Don't use it? what if you need that services?
Maybe new decentralized services like storj for files uploads
But it is clear that there is not many alternatives
VPN is not going to help you from these companies tracking you. But there is a lot you can do.
--Go Google Free--
For example, If using an Android phone and you are rooted, don't install GAPPS. Use alternative google apks..for example:
-Use a browser like Dolphin instead of Chrome
-Use a different search engine like DuckDuckGo instead of Google search
-Use a different mapping service like Sygic GPS or Mapquest Navigation instead on google maps
-Use another calendar instead of Google's. I use aCalendar
-Don't use gmail...find another provider and email apk. Many people use K-9
-Use another store like Amazon or F-Droid store instead of Google Playstore
-Instead of gDrive or DropBox try owncloud
-Avoid using google contacts apk. (Although I haven't found a real good replacement yet)
-Use an ad blocking apk like AdBlock or AdAway
-Use VPN services like OpenVPN, Onion Tor, or Hola! (VPN's offer additional layers of privacy but not from services you login into)
Want to see how much Google is tracking you? Go here---->
https://www.google.com/dashboardThey track everything...your travel, search history, email history, who is in your contacts, etc.... You get the picture. If you are looking for privacy, Google is one to avoid.
One last advice. Turn on encryption. If you lose your phone or someone tries snooping you will be protected. Google and Apple both have indicated their new devices and OS will come with encryption turned on by default.
