It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I'm just like you , I saw this on twitter

Quote
50 % off of all Miners for Bitcoin Black Friday: http://www.bitcoinblackfriday.com/#cat=5

But I create an order with the AMHash miners and other with their Gen1 miners and I can't see the discount.

They replied to me that someone else had put up the offer on the Black Friday site. So we can safely assume it is not going to happen.

Still nothing new about them Gen1 Miners?

It's still planned, we are taking a more cautious release schedule as the upcoming update is a bit of an overhaul.

Enjoy what looks like an upcoming difficulty decrease Smiley

A review site that only reviews cloud mining services with referral schemes and links to them with their referral link? Yeah, that seems totally trustworthy.

i bought some miners from hashie and i'm happy so far.. but i want to ask what happens to AMHash miners if Hashie.co discontinues the services? maybe someone can point to some official AMHash statement about this if there is one and what Hashie himself can say about this? will our miners be automatically transfered somewhere else or lost? Shocked Huh another question would be how are the plans to allow us point our miners to pools going? maybe it will be in miner mods, and what are these mods about anyway ;]]

Remember back in june when btc was about 1000 the mining gear was selling second hand for three times the new price on ebay.If you you are physically mining at home you always get the uplift in your mining gear selling price if btc rises again

yup, there is no resale value on clouds, just big heavy rain storms.

to be fair to cloud operators though, I'll gladly mine on a cloud as long as I have the ability to change pools. Being able to dictate upon which pool you mine is pretty good indicator that the cloud does actually have hardware and isn't just running a ponzi.

re: miner prices, this weekend is good for sale prices, do your calcs and see what equipment is best for you.
just remember, whatever you buy, there is always that opportunity of resale value on your hardware that you won't have on a cloud.

even if the cloud service offers p2p trading of the GH/s that you rent/own, it's not always an indicator that they are legit.

A (possible) difficulty decrease and a "more cautious release schedule" for (completely unproven) hashrate.
Could there possibly be a relation ?

What ASIC manufacturers don't offer cloud mining and have no plans to offer cloud mining?

Remember back in june when btc was about 1000 the mining gear was selling second hand for three times the new price on ebay.

That's just ripping off idiots though.

If you can resell your contracts, how is that any different to reselling your hardware?

"If you can resell your contracts, how is that any different to reselling your hardware?"

It is different in that usually you can sell contrats only at the place where you bought them and under the conditions specified by cloudmining company. And the company has to be there.. Wink for you to be able to sell your contrats Smiley

as mentioned, a cloud is only worth looking into if you can change your designated pool.
trading GH/s on a cloud service which mines on it's own pool is merely; the user, paying for a worker to mine the pool...

it's very different in the long run because with hardware, you are much more likely to mine a lower fee, and make more btc from it.
or perhaps being locked into a pool is people's idea of a good deal, but the way I see it, all you are trading is a worker with x-amount of GH/s and not an actual mining contract.

example, take this hypothesis back to the gold rush of the 1800's

you are a contractor and you employ prospectors to find gold for you
the prospector insists that his contract will only be valid for a set piece of land and he won't pan for gold anywhere other than that space of land.
are you happy to allow this? when the stream 1Km to the east is teeming with gold and the land-owner there offers prospecting at lower fees?
