Dragon's Tale casino has been operating since early 2011 at least - that's certainly not the 'normal' betting model - but some sites have longevity.  Seals With Clubs (poker site) has also been in operation since sometime in 2011 I believe

I am planning to make a bitcoin betting site.

But one question (for old timers and knowledgeable people)

How long does a bitcoin site operate until it close down?

Give example of the site and its life span. Smiley

Thanks!

SWC was created in Aug 2011 and is still operating in business as the most popular bitcoin poker site. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40077.0
SD was created in April 2012 and is still operating in business now. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.0

So these two are the longest running bitcoin betting sites to date?

Just a question, what do you think Primedice is worth right now? If they want to sell?

Not really sure about that. After all, I joined bitcointalk in 2012 and have little knowledge of the early bitcoin world. Smiley

Security vulnerability would be my first concern.
If your site got hacked, it is possible to recover, but it might put you out of business.

And regulatory issues might cut you off overnight.
If you can maintain your own site without having to hire programmers, etc., you could probably do it without much up front costs.

Getting the traffic might take a while, so marketing expenses might be heavy in the beginning.
There might be many months, if not years, of negative cash flows that you should be prepared for.

Payouts and jackpots can be controlled for the most part.
Like any business, there are risks - and payoffs.

Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.
