I've given him the loan. I asked him to sign an old address to prove he's still the original owner of the account before I sent the loan.

I can sign an address I used to send btc to myself.

Not 100% foolproof, but good enough. I'll give you the loan. 1btc sent now for a repayment of 1.04btc. By the end of Monday. I'm also going to send it to the address you signed it from. Does all this sound ok for you? Confirm with me and I'll send now before I got to sleep.

Sounds good, much appreciated

He just asked to have his account appraised and (but said he had no intention of selling) and was told that his account is worth one btc which is the exact amount being borrowed.

I'd say it's worth a lot more than 1 btc

This may or may not be true, however he was told that his account is worth the same amount that he was asking for. IMO this sets off a lot of red flags in my book.

I asked simply out of curiosity.

Me too.  I often see requests where people are asking $x of BTC and offering up exactly $x of collateral.  They are obviously looking to sell their items.

Even more of a red flag if they offer their account as collateral.  If you don't pay back, you are going to abandon your account anyway.

Yes, he has repaid me the 1btc principle, but has NOT paid the small interest yet. I always post the repayment address public right after the loan is given, so that anyone can verify if they wanted to.
