Just on Cryptsy (CRAPSY) and getting all sorts of errors right when I am trying to withdraw my coins, to another exchange. will post pics but I am seriously expecting them to pull a mt.Gox on the world and dissappear with everyone's coins. I hope people did not have much on there, and those that did, I feel for you. maybe it is time to get some one together to go after one of these people if they do pull a disappearing act and make it a public event so any one else running an exchange that is planning on pulling a snatch and grab, will think twice?

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

says hw failure trades and withdrawals halted till a fix - not a Goxxing unless they disable withdrawals while enabling deposits and allowing continued trading:

lol at all, and yes we do accept the risks, I have most of mine on a site that is and has been much more stable, thankfully but as I get more coins I am definitely cold storaging a large amount of it and being a bear as to what I am willing to hazard on these sites, may have to work on both a coin, and an exchange, and possibly a pool of my own so I can either be personally responsible for things, or can at least box the ears of anyone that is responsible if they drop the ball lolol.

**EDIT**
the reason there is no info in my above post is that others have beat me to most of the info I was going to mention, basically just more assurances while the site is still down and we can not make any money off trading, which is typical when a spike or a dip is on us and we could be making money, that the site be down, just glad that the other site I am on is not experiencing any difficulties

Well they are back for now. Don't know about the future, but with the current environment, keep the bitcoins either on your machine or Cold Storage..

I'm fairly certain that cryptsy isn't gonna pull a Gox. they are legitimate, and we all know it. how many fires have they put out to date? quite a few. how many times have they been insolvent? zero. besides, if they did pull a gox, you'd know exactly where to find them.

I don't think they solve all their security issues involving wallets. They had a big hole to fill from the last withdraw issues where they don't even aware of it for longer than a week.

isn't that like saying the world economy is collapsing because andorra, and leichtenstein are going bust...

...although actually... Wink

We had issues with a select piece of hardware at our data center. This piece of equipment balances, and syncs the important data that one finds on the various web front ends, as well as various other tasks. Without it the web cluster does not work.

Steps we took:
  • Brought original server up everything went back to normal. Then crashed hard.
  • Migrated to a new machine. Brought it online and synced all the slave nodes.

We have a plan in place now to prevent this in the future. It will prevent this choke point. We should have that portion implemented this week.

The outage was on the front end. At no time was the back end affected. At no time were any wallets or other information at risk. Hope that clears up any concern.

As always, thinner heads prevail. Good job Cryptsy team!

good to hear that you think you have things solved, but in the future you might consider some scheduled downtime in advance, and then go ahead and do scheduled upgrades to handle this stuff, or better yet have a redundant system that allows you to do hot swap upgrades and increase your network. just some ideas as this is what I would be doing.
