New to pool mining

Hey I'm new to bitcoins and to pooled bitcoin mining. I found a pretty cool site called www.bitcoinplus.com that allows users to easily generate bitcoins just by keeping an internet page up and I thought it was pretty cool that all I have to do in order to generate bitcoins was to do this. Plus while your generating bitcoins only a very small amount of cpu is used so you can work on your computer while generating bitcoin without your computer slowing down. It's pretty nice. Unless this website has some revolutionary technologies designed specifically for it, it uses your CPU which is obsolete and will only earn you a few satoshis a day. This would have been great two years ago

I honestly don't know.. I'm working off of an iMac.. I'm a noob so I don't really understand the whole bitcoin mining process.. Don't know where to begin or how to begin

Well depending on how or how much you'd like to invest, that can be a start.

If you're looking to invest in a new computer (called a "rig" around these forums) and built specifically to mine Bitcoins, if you're looking to invest in monetary trade and play the market (which recently has been very stable compared to the past few months), maybe you're just interested in coding or doing some graphical work for members within the Bitcoin community, or maybe you're interested in working with people to bring Bitcoins to attention to them.

Anyway you're interested to get started, just let us know.

Well before you invest in any hardware, lurk and ask around the hardware section ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=44.0 ) and see what will work best for your environment. I'm running a BFL Single at ~850Mh/s (rig @ 54-60*c, room @ 26-32*c) [haven't done power checks yet]. At the cost of $650, I find it the cheaper solution in the long run. And, I can use it in the long run for decryption SHA256 hashes (like I'll ever need that).
