Are we talking about a white hat?
Exactly. I think it would depend on the situation. Situation is someone steals your wallet, whitehat knows that your wallet was stolen by a criminal and warns you before the criminal transfers your btc.

First thing first i would like to find out how the hacker managed to find out about my wallet getting compromised? Doesn't this sound odd to you? Probably in this situation it will be nil but i would split 50-50 if the guy managed to help recover the stolen fund

I would give him, if my account si really compromised, from 10-25% of my bitcoin in that wallet, not more.

0%. nadda.
I'd tell him to take whatever percentage he'd like since my wallet has been "compromised".
then when he fails, I'd proceed to fire ill mannered jokes at him

Exactly. I think it would depend on the situation. Situation is someone steals your wallet, whitehat knows that your wallet was stolen by a criminal and warns you before the criminal transfers your btc. I don't think the criminal would wait a single second with transferring the bitcoins after he stole the wallet. But let's pretend this situation is actually happening, and the hacker is David Hasselhoff... I would give the whitehat probably 5% of the coins in that wallet.

If a hacker contacts me, he would have to prove it. Then I might transfer most of my savings away, leaving 10% to 15% for him to take depending on how much I have there. Then I would be interested in why my wallet is vulnerable. If he tells me and proved it, may pay him more.

why pay him? disconnect your pc from the net, change the password of your wallet, clear your computer....
if he tell you that he want some % from your btc just to protect your wallet is becasue he havent already access to your wallet... so just disconnect your computer from the net and try to find out whats happend.

If he tells me about it and asks for a donation afterwards? maybe 0.1% -0.3% However, if I can only recover the BTC with his help and otherwise lose all of them, he's get up to 99.9% since I am better off than not going for the deal in that case.
With money involved, acting based on emotions nearly always loses you more than necessary, so even if I'd think "this guy wants almost all my bitcoins in order to recover just 0.1% for me, what a bastard" and decline... well, then I'd be stupid, since I just lose all of my bitcoins that I would potentially still had left.

Hello guys,
Which percentage of your BTC would you give to a hacker that has warned you that your bitcoin wallet has been compromised?
regards,
Usually is 10% But there is big difference, if they would just tell you your valet might be compromised or if they would take money off by themselves. You think different when you hold your money in your hands or not.

If he is not waiting a reward from you , then you should give him the percentage that you feel it's good I personally would give him a lot (if I had a lot) like 40%
