turns out there's another service provider which covers where i am. suddenlink.  never heard of them...call em up, basically, they said they could provide cable tv, but not internet, because of where i am... when i asked what it would take to fix that, the guy said, "another company."

sigh.
That is strange. It's usually the provider who supplies access. If they are not that far away, like you said, you should be able to pay to get access.
Can I get the name of this company?

comapny is called Suddenlink. http://www.suddenlink.com/

i figure he was just giving me the brush off... i plan to call them back and work my way up the chain.

i don't post much, but this space for rent.

Not a prob considering the closest he seems to be to a cable is what, 100 yard's? I dont think latency would be a problem compared to using a 3g dongle...

Okay, test number 1:

Ask ALL neighbour's if any has cable coming to their home for internet.

Follow cable outside to junction box. I note over there where you are, box's seem to be suspended from poles, I hope you can climb.. if however they are in the ground, lift manhole cover, and spot a weird oblong thing with 8 output socket's, some which are probably connected, run a length of cable from a free socket to your home.. plug in modem of choice, call isp, or better still, look at the modem site's..
