I have only been here less than a week, and have about 117 posts.  Yet I notice I am way ahead of some others, and even "hero" and "legendary" users have only a few hundred posts (with a few exceptions, like one guy with over 1000 posts).  Still, if I have 117 posts in a few days of activity, that means one of two things (well three things):

0.  I post like crazy, like a person who has verbal diarrhea. I don't think that's the case though.

1.  Most posters here are laconic, meaning they use few words, possibly because they are privacy freaks and are afraid of giving away their identity if they post too much.  So they don't post that much, or, they use different handles and when they exceed 100 posts they kill their user ID and begin anew (I find this hard to believe).

2.  The moderators here are overzealous and will ban you eventually, no matter who you are, and you have to create a new identity.

Any ideas?

90 posts in one week. 13 posts per day is reasonable. You bought this account from an account farmer?

There are 1354 people who have more than 1000 posts.

How have you been here only a week but your account was created in March 2013? It sounds a lot like you purchased your account.

Also people do not spend massive amounts of time posting, but rather most people spend the majority of their time on here lurking and reading posts instead of contributing.

Posters are generally not afraid about giving away too much information about themselves however they are able to prevent the release of personal information.

Mods are not overzealus, and are actually pretty liberal about deleting posts and banning. The only real time you will be banned is if you spam or try to spread maleware (although there are other, less commonly used reasons)

Why would anybody purchase an account?  I guess to step into the shoes of somebody... maybe to get Hero or Legend status?  What does it take to become a hero or legend?  Time or number of posts?

Option 0. You've got logorrhea.

Just kidding, but indeed many users post much less, and many of your posts are just questions in existing threads without significant contributions. That's ok for a newbie as long as it's not essentially spamming to get higher activity score. To me it looks still reasonable.
Many higher-level members don't post short interjections in every thread but prefer to write longer and more substantial contributions, which take more time to think about and write up (I know there are enough exceptions to this...)

I asked myself too the same question and started counting my posts per days. I mean, I am writting in icq in one day more as 100 messages and facebook and reddit too alot. Over a time of one week I came here with maximum 11 posts in a day.

My conclusion was, that the bitcoin topic are technical and financial matter and not much smalltalk or expessions of emotions and thats limiting the possibility of contributing alot of reasonable posts. And seriously, you dont want to comment every piece of sh** or become a troll.

Hero and legendary member generally means you are here for a long time and may have more experience and trust. To be a Hero member, you need to post at least 400++ post and be active for every two week period for 1-1.5 years. To be a legendary member, you need to be active longer than that.

Posting 14 times per day is reasonable right..? My posting frequency was 14 per day for a few month until I got pretty busy and can't post that much. I spend more time lurking around the forum now.

But you have, says your profile to the left of this post, "168" "activity".  So if you posted 14 times a day, that would mean in 168/14 = 12 days you would get to 168.  That's not "for a few month".  This is what is confusing me.

What are the benefits of a higher activity score, Onkel Paul?  And does this site accept bitcoin?  Maybe we can donate to it, unless some rich person is already funding it?  I think it's owned by some Bitcoin foundation, so they're probably OK with adequate money.

Activity limit increases by 14 every two weeks. My current activity limit is 168. I have been active for around 24 weeks already. You seem to be confused about the activity. Activity can only be increased if you are active for 2 weeks. My post count is currently 1126, a few months ago I posted around 14 per day and stopped recently (1 month ago).

Wow, I have not posted as much as I thought, "only" 129 posts!  Good, good, like an SSD drive with read/writes, I still have more posts to go before somebody deems my posts excessive and bans me? ;-(

BTW, I think I know why excessive posts is considered bad by some people:  apparently people use this forum for 'business related' bitcoin transactions, and the theory is that if you are a hero or legendary member, you are considered by newbies as 'trustworthy' (I don't think smart newbies would make that conclusion, but that's another point).  So the moderators don't want somebody just posting a lot to get a high Activity / Posts count.

At the end of two week period, post one post and your activity limit will increase by 14 at the end of the new two week period. To fully utilize the activity, post an additional 13 post to "redeem" all of the activity.
